ABC's Broadcast Premiere of "The Santa Clause 2" on Sunday's "Wonderful World of Disney" Stands as TV's Top Theatrical Telecast in Nearly 3 Years

Weekly Rankings: In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, ABC's holiday airings of Disney's "The Santa Clause 2" (No. 13/No. 9) and the animated classic "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (No. 19/No. 19) each ranked among the week's Top 20 television programs. The Net's Thursday repeat airing of "Grey's Anatomy" was the week's third-highest-rated program with Women 18-34, behind only an original telecast of Fox's "House" and NBC's season finale of "The Biggest Loser 3," respectively. ABC claimed the week's Top 3 broadcasts among Kids 2-11: "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" - No. 1, "The Santa Clause 2" - No. 2 and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" - No. 3. ABC's broadcast premiere of Disney's "The Santa Clause 2" on Sunday ranks as TV's top theatrical telecast in almost 3 years - since January 2003 in Viewers and since February 2003 in Adults 18-49.

Monday

ABC ranked No. 1 Monday night in Women 18-34 (3.5/10 - tied with CBS), while placing second in Women 18-49 (3.7/10).

"Wife Swap" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

At 8:00 p.m., a repeat "Wife Swap" took second place in its time period among Women 18-34 (3.3/10) and Women 18-49 (3.5/9), despite having reduced coverage (94%) due to local market pre-emptions.

"Supernanny" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

In the 9 o'clock hour, "Supernanny" took second among Adults 18-49 (3.0/8) and Adults 18-34 (2.8/5). The ABC unscripted program led the hour among Women 18-34 (4.2/11) and Teens 12-17 (2.0/6).

"What About Brian" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

In the final hour of the night, ABC's "What About Brian" ranked No. 2 among Adults 18-49 (2.2/6 - tied) and Adults 18-34 (1.9/6).

Tuesday

ABC's Tuesday lineup took second on the night in Adults 18-34 (2.4/7 - tied) and Women 18-49 (4.0/10), while winning the night among Kids 2-11 (3.0/13).

"Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

The animated holiday classic "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" took second in the hour in Total Viewers (11.0 million) and among Adults 18-49 (3.9/11). With the holiday special, ABC won the hour among Adults 18-34 (3.0/10), Teens 12-17 (2.7/9) and Kids 2-11 (6.6/21).

"Barbara Walters Presents the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2006" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC's "Barbara Walters Presents the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2006" won the final hour of primetime among Adults 18-49 (3.1/9) and Adults 18-34 (2.7/8).

Thursday

"Grey's Anatomy" (9:00-10:01 p.m.)

A rebroadcast of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" took second in the 9 o'clock hour in Total Viewers (10.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.7/10), while ranking No. 1 in the hour across each of the key women demos: Women 18-34 (4.7/13), Women 18-49 (5.3/13) and Women 25-54 (6.1/14).

_ For the second consecutive week, ABC's repeat telecast of "Grey's Anatomy" outperformed original episodes of NBC's comedies ("Scrubs"/"30 Rock") in the hour, this week by 45% in viewers and by 12% in young adults (NBC = 6.9 million & 3.3/9).

Friday

"20/20 FRI - SP" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

A special telecast of ABC News' "20/20" finished No. 2 in the hour among Adults 18-34 (1.8/6 - tied), while ranking No. 1 among women 18-34 (2.3/8 - tied).

"20/20" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Building on it lead-in in both viewers and young adults, a second edition of ABC News' "20/20" took second place in the hour among Total Viewers (7.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.4/7).

Sunday

ABC took second place on Sunday night across the key women demos [W18-34 - 3.4/10 (tie), W18-49 - 4.4/11 & W25-54 - 5.0/12] and ranked No. 1 on the evening among Kids 2-11 (3.7/14).

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" (7:00-8:00 p.m.)

ABC's rebroadcast of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" earned second place during the 7 o'clock hour to Fox's NFL overrun among Adults 18-49 (2.8/8), while delvering the No. 1 position in the time period among Kids 2-11 (3.7/13).

* "A Charlie Brown Christmas" generated ABC's highest non-sports Kids 2-11 rating in the time period in almost 2 years - since 1/30/05.

"Wonderful World of Disney: The Santa Clause 2" (8:00-10:00 p.m.)

ABC's broadcast premiere of "The Santa Clause 2" took second place to CBS' season finale of "Survivor: Cook Islands" from 8:00-10:00 p.m. in Total Viewers (13.7 million). The "Wonderful World of Disney: The Santa Clause 2" ranked No. 1 during its 2-hour time period, beating the "Survivor" finale among Women 18-34 (4.2/12) and Kids 2-11 (4.8/16). The 2002 Disney theatrical also outpaced CBS' "Survivor" season closer by 9% among Teens 12-17 (3.8/11 vs. 3.5/10).

* In Total Viewers (13.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.6/11), "The Santa Clause 2" qualifies as TV's top theatrical movie broadcast in almost 3 years - since 1/5/04 and 2/15/04, respectively.

"Desperate Housewives" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's repeat telecast of "Desperate Housewives" took second place with Women 18-49 (3.4/8) and Women 25-54 (3.9/9).
