Quick Take for Thursday, October 25, 2007 (Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings)

Against the 2007 World Series Game 2, ABC is Thursday's Top Non-Sports Net in Adults 18-49, with "Grey's Anatomy" Ranking as the Night's No. 1 TV Series

ABC's "Ugly Betty" Retains 100% of its Week-Ago Performance in Adults 18-49, Leading the Hour Among Women 18-34 for the Fifth Week in a Row

The No. 1 Program on Thursday in Adults 18-49 for the Fifth Straight Week, ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" Leads its Hour and Ranks as the Top Show of the Night In Viewers and Across the Key Adult Demos

ABC's Freshman "Big Shots" Wins the 10pm Hour in Women 18-34, Beating NBC's "ER" by 16% and CBS' "Without a Trace" by 57%

Thursday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

Airing opposite Fox's coverage of the 2007 World Series Game 2, ABC ranked as the No. 1 "non-sports" network on Thursday among Adults 18-49 (4.6/12). The Net took first on the night for the fifth straight week, outperforming the World Series in Adults 18-34 (4.3/12) and across all key women demographics: W18-34 (6.2/17), W18-49 (6.5/16) and W25-54 (7.3/16).

"Ugly Betty" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "Ugly Betty" retained 100% of its week-ago Adults 18-49 (3.2/9) performance, while posting week-to-week increases in Adults 18-34 (2.8/8 vs. 2.5/8) and Women 18-34 (4.1/12 vs. 3.8/11). "Betty" won its time period for the fifth consecutive week among Women 18-34.

"Grey's Anatomy" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" led the 9 o'clock hour and ranked as the No. 1 program on Thursday evening in Total Viewers (17.9 million) and across each of the key adult demographics: Adults 18-34 (7.0/18), Adults 18-49 (7.3/15) and Adults 25-54 (8.1/18). It's the fifth straight week that "Grey's Anatomy" has ranked as the Thursday's No. 1 program in the key adult sales demo.

Despite going up against coverage of the World Series, "Grey's Anatomy" held all of its Total Viewer and Adults 18-49 audience from the prior week, and was up week to week in Adults 18-34 (7.0/18 vs. 6.9/18) and Adults 25-54 (8.1/18 vs. 7.9/18).

"Big Shots" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

In the final hour of the night, ABC's freshman "Big Shots" won its time slot among Women 18-34 (4.4/12), beating NBC's "ER" by 16% (3.8/10) and CBS' "Without a Trace" by 57% (2.8/8).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from 9% at this time last year up to 20% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
