CBS NEWS' "48 HOURS MYSTERY" WAS THE NIGHT'S #1 PROGRAM IN VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54 ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 24
On Saturday, Jan. 24, CBS News' 48 HOURS MYSTERY (10:00-11:00 PM ET) was the night's #1 program in viewers and adults 25-54, posting: 5.1/09 in households, 7.80m viewers, 2.8/07 in adults 25-54 and 2.0/06 in adults 18-49. These numbers marked 48 HOURS MYSTERY's best delivery in both households and viewers since November 8, 2008, in adults 25-54 since March 24, 2007 and in adults 18-49 since March 8, 2008. Compared to the same night last year, the program was up +24% in households, +33% in adults 25-54 and +25% in adults 18-49.
The broadcast, entitled "Lady in The Harbor," featured the story of a CSI extra who wanted to become a star but whose dreams met a gruesome Hollywood ending when she was found stabbed to death in the waters of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. In a twist worthy of CSI, investigators identified the victim to be Barbara Mullenix when they tracked down the serial number on her breast implants. At first police suspected her ex-husband, with whom Barbara and their daughter Rachael lived. However, Bruce Mullenix had an iron-clad alibi, and their teenage daughter was nowhere to be seen. Investigators soon discovered that Rachael had an older boyfriend who did not get along with Barbara, but when the couple was captured across the country, Rachael insisted she had been kidnapped. Last fall the pair was convicted of Barbara Mullenix's murder, but on 48 HOURS MYSTERY Rachael pleaded her innocence to Correspondent Erin Moriarty.
