Nickelodeon Digital Networks Tally Biggest Audiences Ever for August
NEW YORK - August 31, 2010 - Nickelodeon closes August as basic cable's number-one total day network with kids 2-11 and total viewers, while also scoring its most-watched month ever with total viewers. According to Nielsen Media Research (7/26/10-8/29/10), Nickelodeon averaged 2.5 million total viewers and a 3.7/1.3 million kids 2-11 for the month and was up double digits with kids 6-11 (+12%) and tweens 9-14 (+16%).
Nickelodeon's iCarly (Friday, July 30, 8 p.m. ET/PT) landed basic cable's top kid-targeted telecast for the month with "iGot a Hot Room," which averaged 9.1 million total viewers and also logged the number-one telecast for the month with kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. An episode of Victorious (Friday, August 27, 8 p.m. ET/PT) "Wi-Fi in the Sky," rounded out Nick's winning monthly performance, scoring the top spot on basic cable with total viewers (3.6 million) for the night and ranked as broadcast and basic cable's most-watched program with kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. SpongeBob SquarePants also scored a win for Nick, ranking as August's top animated series on broadcast and basic cable with kids 2-11.
Nickelodeon's digital nets--Nick Jr., TeenNick and Nicktoons--each logged their best August performances ever with total viewers and their respective key demos. Nick Jr., Nickelodeon's 24-hour preschool network, had its highest-rated and most-watched August ever with both total viewers (+34%) and preschoolers (+30% in rating). Nicktoons - currently the fastest growing kids net - also posted its highest-rated and most-watched August with total viewers (+40%), kids 6-11 (+40%), boys 6-11 (+43%), tweens 9-14 (+50%) and boys 9-14 (+60%); besting its closest competitor Disney XD with key demos, boys 6-11 (+25%), tweens 9-14 (+20%) and boys 9-14 (+14%).
TeenNick - the 24-hour network for and about teens and tweens - drew its highest-rated and most-watched August ever with teens 12-17 (+15% in delivery) and total viewers (+28%). The nets win was driven by a stellar ratings performance by Degrassi, whose six-week summer television event posted huge triple- and quadruple-digit gains with teens (+650%) and total viewers (+605%).
