NICKELODEON CLOSES WEEK AS BASIC CABLE'S TOP TOTAL DAY NETWORK WITH KIDS AND TOTAL VIEWERS
Fred: The Movie Ranks as Week's Top Entertainment Telecast on Basic Cable
with 7.6 Million Total Viewers, and Number-One Telecast
with Kids and Tweens on All of TV
NEW YORK - Sept. 21, 2010 - Nickelodeon closed the week (9/13/10-9/19/10) as basic cable's number-one network in total day with kids 2-11 and total viewers (2.1 million), posting double- digit gains with all key demos K2-11 (3.2/1.1 million, +10%), K6-11 (2.9/619,000, +16%) and T9-14 (2.1/454,000, +17%). Nick's weekly win was fueled by the stellar premiere of Fred: The Movie (Saturday, Sept. 18, 8 p.m. ET/PT), which ranks as basic cable's top entertainment telecast for the week with total viewers (7.6 million). The two-hour debut also ranks as the week's number-one telecast on all TV with K6-11 (15.4/3.3 million, +202%), T9-14 (14.8/3.1 million, +279%), and K2-11 (11.3/4.1 million, +190%).
A replay of Fred: The Movie (Sept. 19, 8 p.m. ET/PT) ranked as Sunday's top telecast with total viewers (4.7 million) on basic cable and was the number-one telecast with K2-11 (6.9/2.5 million), K6-11 (8.9/1.9 million) and T9-14 (9.3/2.0 million) on all TV.
Nick's weekly ratings performance also was also highlighted by premieres of SpongeBob SquarePants and The Penguins of Madagascar, which year to date rank as the number-one and two animated series on all TV with kids 2-11, respectively. The Saturday morning premiere of SpongeBob SquarePants (Sept. 18, 9:30 a.m., ET/PT) scored 4.7 million total viewers and averaged a 7.4/2.6 million K2-11, 6.8/1.5 million K6-11, and 5.2/1.1 million T9-14. The Penguins of Madagascar followed at 10 a.m., ET/PT, drawing 4.2 million total viewers, and averaging a 6.3/2.3 million K2-11, 5.9/1.3 million K6-11, and 4.2/892,000 T9-14.
