WEEK No. 5:

During another week where professional sports coverage boosted the other nets averages (w/o 10/18/10), ABC earned a solid second place in Total Viewers (8.9 million) and finished No. 1 with Women 18-34 (2.4/8) for the 5th time in 5 weeks this season.

· ABC drew its biggest weekly audience in since September - since w/o 9/27/10.

Rankings: For the 3rd week in a row, ABC's "Modern Family" finished as TV's No. 1 scripted show in Adults 18-49, while for the 5th week running this season "Dancing with the Stars" stood the No. 1 unscripted series. ABC continued to deliver the most Top 10 TV shows (tying CBS) with 4 of the weekly Top 10 in Adults 18-49: "Modern Family" - No. 3, "Grey's Anatomy" and "Dancing with the Stars" tied at No. 8 and "Desperate Housewives" - No. 10.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 38% currently, from 33% at the same point in 2009. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.

ABC won Monday night in Total Viewers for the 5th consecutive week. During prime, ABC outperformed CBS by 6.2 million viewers (16.6 million vs. 10.4 million) and by 6% in Adults 18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 3.3/9).
