UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - November 2, 2010 - Paced by "Sunday Night Football" and strong ratings from Halloween-themed episodes of its Thursday comedies, NBC averaged a 2.3 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 6.5 million viewers overall for the week of October 25-31, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC Sports' "Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Pittsburgh Steelers Halloween showdown with the New Orleans Saints topped the weekly primetime rankings in adults 18-49. This marks the eighth straight week in which "NBC Sunday Night Football" has finished #1 in primetime's key demographic. "Sunday Night Football" also ranked #1 among all primetime programs this week in adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics - men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. In total viewers, "NBC Sunday Night Football" ranked #3 this week among all primetime programs.

"The Office" ranked #10, tied with Game 2 of the World Series), among all primetime programs this week in adults 18-49, and was the #3 program of the week (tied) among adults 18-34 (rankings exclude all football and baseball pre-game and post-game telecasts).

Primetime averages for the week of October 25-31 in adults 18-49 were Fox (3.7/11), CBS and ABC (2.6/7), NBC (2.3/7) and CW (1.0/3). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were Fox (12.0 million), CBS (11.0 million), ABC (9.2 million), NBC (6.5 million) and CW (2.2 million).

Season-to-date through six weeks, NBC is tied for #3 in adults 18-49, up 8 percent in 18-49 rating versus the first six weeks of last season (2.8 vs. 2.6), the biggest year-to-year gain among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in primetime's key demographic. Also, NBC is up 7 percent in total viewers versus the first six weeks of last season (8.058 million vs. 7.536 million).

NBC highlights for the week of October 25-31

· On Sunday, NBC Sports' "Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Pittsburgh Steelers at the New Orleans Saints led NBC to a primetime win in all key demographic measures - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 - despite competition that night from Game 4 of Major League Baseball's World Series. .

· For its full duration, the Steelers-Saints NFL game averaged a 7.3/19 in adults 18-49, 18.1 million viewers overall and a 10.7/17 household rating/share from 8:31-11:21 p.m. ET. As a point of comparison, Game 4 of the World Series averaged a 4.3/11 in adults 18-49, 15.5 million viewers overall and a 9.0/15 household rating/share from 8:18-11:32 p.m. ET.

· The Friday edition of "Dateline NBC" reported a week-to-week increase of 30 percent in 18-49 rating.

· On Thursday, a Halloween episode of "Community" hit season highs, generating that show's highest 18-49 rating since January 14 and biggest overall audience since October 1, 2009, when the show still aired in the 9:30 p.m. ET half-hour early in its first season.

· Thursday's Halloween-themed episode of "The Office" was up week to week by 18 percent in adults 18-49 and 17 percent in total viewers to file its top results by both measures since its season premiere on September 23.

· "The Office" tied for #1 in the time period in adults 18-49, with ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and Fox's World Series coverage, and ranked #1 outright in adults and men 18-34.

· So far this season, "The Office" has added an average 31 percent to its 18-49 rating in going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven day" results, making it the biggest percentage gainer among all half-hour comedies. "Community," with a 38 percent gain is the #3 biggest gainer.

· Also on Thursday, a Halloween edition of "Outsourced" was up week to week by 17 percent in adults 18-49 and 20 percent in total viewers. "Outsourced" dialed up its highest 18-49 rating in four weeks and its biggest overall audience since its September 23 series premiere.

· "Outsourced" is the #1 new network show of the season in adults 18-34, averaging a 3.4 rating in that demo through six telecasts.

· So far this season, "Outsourced" is the #1 biggest gainer on a percentage basis going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven day" among all first-year half-hour comedies on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW.

· Additionally on Thursday, the Halloween special "Scared Shrekless" scared up a 37 percent gain versus NBC's average in this slot during the traditional 2009-10 season.

· Also, Thursday's telecast of "The Apprentice" scored that show's highest 18-49 rating and biggest overall viewership since September 23 despite atypical competition in the hour from Fox's World Series coverage.

· On Wednesday, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: LA" grew by 8 percent in 18-49 rating from its first half-hour to its second while competing first-run dramas "The Defenders" on CBS and "The Whole Truth" on ABC declined from half-hour to half-hour. The "Law & Order: LA" encore topped the first-run episode of "The Whole Truth" in adults 18-49 and other key measures.

· Also on Wednesday, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" grew from half-hour to half-hour in every key ratings category, including gains of 27 percent in 18-49 rating and 22 percent in total viewers against competition that included Game 1 of the World Series.

· On Tuesday, "The Biggest Loser" gained from its first half-hour to its fourth by 29 percent in adults 18-49, 35 percent in adults 25-54 and 40 percent in adults 18-34 against tough time-period competition that included Fox's "Glee," CBS's "NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles" and ABC's "No Ordinary Family" and "Dancing With the Stars."

· Also on Tuesday, "Parenthood" posted week-to-week gains in 18-49 and total viewers and ranked #2 in its time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults 18-34.

· So far this season, "Parenthood" has added an average 42 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from "live plus same day" ratings to "live plus seven day" results. On a percentage basis, "Parenthood" is the #1 biggest gainer in going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven" among all primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW.

· On Monday, "The Event" was up 18 percent in 18-49 rating and 15 percent in total viewers versus NBC's non-sports average in the time period during the traditional 2009-10 season.

· So far this season, "The Event" has added an average 33 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from "live plus same day" ratings to its "live plus seven day" figure, and has added an average 27 percent or more than 2.2 million persons in total viewers. Overall, "The Event" has derived 39 percent of its "live plus seven" 18-49 rating from time-shifted viewing, making "The Event" the most time-shifted new primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW on a percentage basis.

· Also on Monday, "Chuck" retained 100 percent of its 18-49 rating from the past three weeks and was up week to week by 4 percent in total viewers to deliver its biggest overall audience since its season premiere on September 20.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of October 25-31:

On Monday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m. ET, "Chuck" (1.9 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) retained 100 percent of its 18-49 rating from the prior three weeks. "Chuck" was up 5 percent versus its 18-49 average for the May sweep earlier this year (1.9 vs. 1.8).

In total viewers, "Chuck was up week to week by 4 percent (to 5.445 million from 5.231 million) to deliver its biggest overall audience in five weeks (since its season premiere on September 20).

It's worth noting that so far this season, "Chuck" has added an average 27 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure.

Monday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "The Event" (2.0/5 in adults 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 5 percent in 18-49 rating and by 10 percent in total viewers.

In a tough time period that included competition from ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," CBS's "Two and a Half Men" and "Mike & Molly," Fox's "Lie to Me" and an exceptionally potent ESPN NFL game featuring the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys, "The Event" delivered an 18 percent increase in adults 18-49 versus NBC's 1.7 average in the slot last season (non-sports "live plus same day").

In total viewers, "The Event" was up 15 percent versus NBC's "live plus same day" average in the hour last season (6.0 million vs. 5.2 million).

So far this season, "The Event" has added an average 33 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure. In total viewers, "The Event" has added an average 27 percent or more than 2.2 million persons in going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven day." Overall, "The Event" has derived 39 percent of its "live plus seven" rating from time-shifted viewing, making "The Event" the most time-shifted new primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW on a percentage basis.

Monday at 10 p.m. ET, "Chase" averaged a 1.3/4 in adults 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "Chase" maintained its 18-49 rating while competing dramas on ABC and CBS were declining from half-hour to half-hour.

So far this season, "Chase" has added an average 24 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure.

On Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser 10" averaged a 2.4/6 in adults 18-49 and 7.0 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period that included Fox's "Glee," CBS's "NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles" and ABC's "No Ordinary Family" and the "Dancing With the Stars" Results Show.

From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Biggest Loser" grew by 29 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.7 from a 2.1), 40 percent in adults 18-34 (to a 2.1 from a 1.5), 35 percent in adults 25-54 (to a 3.5 from a 2.6) and 21 percent in total viewers (to 7.4 million from 6.1 million).

Tuesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Parenthood" (2.0/6 in adults 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall.) ranked #2 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults 18-34. Week to week, "Parenthood" nurtured a 5 percent gain in 18-49 rating (2.0 vs. 1.9) and a 1 percent gain in overall viewership (4.939 million vs. 4.872 million).

So far this season, "Parenthood" has added an average 42 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" ratings to its "live plus seven day" results. On a percentage basis, "Parenthood" is the #1 biggest gainer in going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven" among all primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW.

On Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Undercovers" averaged a 1.4/4 in 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "Undercovers" grew by 8 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.4 from a 1.3), 18 percent in men 18-49 (to a 1.3 from a 1.1), 6 percent in adults 25-54 (to a 1.8 from a 1.7) and 15 percent in men 25-54 (to a 1.6 from a 1.4).

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" averaged a 1.3/3 in 18-49 and 4.8 million viewers overall. The "Law & Order: SVU" encore grew from half-hour to half-hour in every key ratings category, including gains of 27 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.4 from a 1.1) and 22 percent in total viewers (to 5.3 million from 4.3 million).

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Los Angeles" averaged a 1.2/4 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall. The "Law & Order: LA" rebroadcast topped a first-run episode of ABC's drama "The Whole Truth" in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demos. "Law & Order: LA" retained 92 percent of its lead-in among adults 18-49 and 100 percent among adults 25-54.

From its first half-hour to its second, the "Law & Order: LA" rebroadcast increased by 8 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.3 from a 1.2) while competing first-run dramas "The Defenders" on CBS and "The Whole Truth" on ABC declined from half-hour to half-hour in that key demographic.

On Thursday, Oct. 28 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, the Halloween special "Scared Shrekless" (2.6/8 in 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall) delivered a 37 percent gain versus NBC's average in this slot during the traditional 2009-10 season (1.9, non-sports, "live plus same day"). In the time period, "Scared Shrekless" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

Thursday from 8:30-9 p.m. ET, a Halloween episode of "Community" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) generated that show's highest 18-49 rating since January 14 and biggest overall audience since October 1, 2009, when the show still aired in the 9:30 p.m. half-hour early in its first season. "Community" was also up 26 percent in 18-49 versus NBC's slot average during the traditional 2009-10 season (1.9, non-sports, "live plus same day"). In the time period, "Community" was the #1 non-sports program among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34 and men 18-34.

So far this season, "Community" has added an average 28 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure, making it the #3 biggest gainer on a percentage basis among half-hour comedies, behind only "The Office" and "Modern Family."

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, a Halloween-themed episode of "The Office" (4.0/11 in adults 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall) filed its top 18-49 and total-viewer results since the show's season premiere on September 23. Week to week, "The Office" was up 18 percent in 18-49 rating (4.0 vs. 3.4) and 17 percent or 1.2 million persons in total viewers (8.072 million vs. 6.871 million). Versus its average for the May sweep, "The Office" was up 14 percent in 18-49 rating (4.0 vs. 3.5) and 19 percent or more than 1.3 million persons in total viewers (8.072 million vs. 6.771 million).

"The Office" tied for #1 in the time period in adults 18-49, with ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and Fox's World Series coverage, and ranked #1 outright in adults and men 18-34.

So far this season, "The Office" has added an average 31 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure. On a percentage basis, "The Office" is the #1 biggest gainer from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven" among all half-hour comedies on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW.

Thursday from 9:31-10 p.m. ET, a Halloween edition of "Outsourced" (2.7/7 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) dialed in its highest 18-49 rating in four weeks (since September 30) and its biggest overall viewership since its series premiere on September 23. Week to week, "Outsourced" was up 17 percent in 18-49 rating (2.7 vs. 2.3) and 20 percent in total viewers (5.944 million vs. 4.948 million). In its time period, "Outsourced" was the #1 non-sports choice in men 18-34.

So far this season, "Outsourced" has added an average 20 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure. On a percentage basis, "Outsourced" is the #1 biggest gainer going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven" among all first-year half-hour comedies on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW.

Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, "The Apprentice" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall) scored its highest 18-49 and total-viewer results since September 23 despite atypical competition in the hour from Fox's World Series coverage. Week to week, "The Apprentice" was up 8 percent in adults 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.3) and 6 percent in total viewers (3.8 million vs. 3.6 million).

So far this season, "The Apprentice" has added an average 30 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure. On a percentage basis, "The Apprentice" is the #1 biggest gainer going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven" among all unscripted shows on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW.

On Friday, Oct. 22 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "School Pride" averaged a 0.6/3 in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall.

Friday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) reported week-to-week increases of 30 percent in 18-49 rating (1.3 vs. 1.0) and 7 percent in total viewers (5.0 million vs. 4.6 million). From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" grew by 27 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.4 from a 1.1) and by 11 percent in total viewers (to 5.1 million from 4.6 million).

On Saturday, Oct. 30 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of the Halloween special "Scared Shrekless" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall) treated NBC to its highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in this time period since June 19. "Scared Shrekless" ranked #1 in the half-hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in kids 2-11.

Saturday from 8:30-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of the Halloween special "Monsters Vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins From Outer Space" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's top 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period since June 19. The special was #1 in the slot among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in kids 2-11.

Saturday at 9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of Thursday's Halloween episode of "The Office" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 2.0 million viewers overall) earned NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the slot in four weeks (since October 2). At 9:30 p.m., an encore telecast of the Halloween episode of "Community" averaged a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 1.6 million viewers overall.

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall) grew from its first half-hour to its second by 50 percent in adult 18-49 rating (to a 0.9 from a 0.6) and 35 percent in total viewers (3.4 million vs. 2.5 million).

On Sunday Oct. 31, the "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Pittsburgh Steelers at the New Orleans Saints propelled NBC to a primetime win in all key demographic measures - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 - despite competition that night from Game 4 of Major League Baseball's World Series.

For its full duration, the Steelers-Saints NFL game averaged a 7.3/19 in adults 18-49, 18.1 million viewers overall and a 10.7/17 household rating/share from 8:31-11:21 p.m. ET. As a point of comparison, Game 4 of the World Series averaged a 4.3/11 in adults 18-49, 15.5 million viewers overall and a 9.0/15 household rating/share from 8:18-11:32 p.m. ET.

Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-7:55 p.m. ET averaged a 1.5/5 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall and a 2.5/5 household rating/share. "Football Night in America 3" from 7:55-8:22 p.m. delivered a 3.7/11 in 18-49, 9.5 million viewers overall and a 5.8/10 in households. From 8:22-8:31 p.m., "NBC Sunday Night Football Pre Kickoff" averaged a 5.1/15 in 18-49, 12.7 million viewers overall and a 7.6/13 in households. Note: "Football Night in America" from 7-7:30 p.m. ET was sustaining programming and does not figure in the nightly or weekly primetime averages.
