NICKELODEON RANKS AS BASIC CABLE'S TOP NETWORK WITH KIDS, TOTAL VIEWERS; iCarly and Big Time Rush Score Top Two Telecasts with Kids and Tweens for Month
Nick Jr. and Nicktoons Tally Their Biggest October Audiences Ever
NEW YORK-Nov. 2, 2010-Nickelodeon closes October as basic cable's number-one total day network with kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and total viewers and posted its most-watched October ever with viewers P2+. According to Nielsen Media Research (9/27/10-10/31/10), Nickelodeon averaged 2.1 million total viewers, and a 3.2/1.1 million kids 2-11 and 2.8/608,000 with kids 6-11 for the month.
Nickelodeon's monthly win was fueled by iCarly ("iDo" Monday, Oct. 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT), which drew 7.6 million total viewers and is basic cable's top telecast with kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14 for the month, followed by Big Time Rush ("Big Time Girlfriends," Monday, Oct. 11, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT), which averaged 5.3 million total viewers and scored the number-two telecast with kids and tweens. The premiere of Boy Who Cried Werewolf (Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, 8 p.m. ET/PT), starring Victoria Justice in her first-ever headlining TV movie role and Brooke Shields, rounded out Nick's monthly performance by scoring 5.8 million total viewers and topping broadcast and basic cable for the week (10/18/10-10/24/10) with kids and tweens.
Additionally, SpongeBob SquarePants and T.U.F.F. Puppy, the latest addition to Nick's hit animation roster, also scored wins for the net, ranking as October's top two animated series, respectively, on broadcast and basic cable with kids 2-11.
Nickelodeon's digital nets, Nick Jr. and Nicktoons, also each logged their best October performances ever with total viewers and their respective key demos. Nick Jr., Nickelodeon's 24-hour preschool network, had its most-watched October ever with both total viewers and preschoolers, driven by a strong ratings performance by Team Umizoomi, which ranks as the number-one preschool show on broadcast and basic cable for the month. Nicktoons-currently the fastest growing kids net-also posted its highest-rated and most-watched October with total viewers (+45%), kids 6-11 (+51% in delivery), boys 6-11 (+61%), tweens 9-14 (+38% in delivery) and boys 9-14 (+27%).
