"Archer" Sophomore Season Opens Solid for FX
FX spins the numbers for Thursday, January 27.

[via press release from FX]

Please see ratings information below for the Archer Season 2 premiere episode below from FX research:

A very solid sophomore season bow for Archer. Against significantly stronger competition (notably the Jersey Shore juggernaut on MTV), Archer retained 84 percent of its year-ago bow in P18-49 and boosted its first season average by +41%.

· Also encouraging for Archer is that its 1100P encore was the most watched encore telecast ever in P18-49 (678). All data is Live+Same Day 000s; complete data sets attached.

Vs. Year-Ago Premiere and Season Average: Archer retained 84% of its year-ago bow in P18-49 (986 vs. 1,176); not surprisingly, M18-49 retention was stronger than W18-49 (93% vs. 68%). Compared to Archer's frosh season norm, last night's second season premiere exceeded it virtually across the board: by +41% in P18-49 (986 vs. 698), +52% in M18-49 (707 vs. 465), +3% in P18-34 (489 vs. 477), and +10% in M18-34 (356 vs. 324).

Vs. Lead-in: Archer's Two and a Half Men lead-in averaged a very robust 1,003 P18-49 - which makes for one of the show's most-watched telecasts to date. In fact, it ranks in the top six percent of all telecasts since the series launched on our air on Labor Day. That being said, last night's telecast of Two and a Half Men retained 67% of the year-ago lead-in to Archer - the broadcast premiere of The Simpsons Movie (1,003 vs. 1,486) - thus, it was a positive result that Archer retained 84% its year-ago premiere.

· Compared to Two & A Half Men, Archer eased -2% in P18-49 (986 vs. 1,003) but exhibited strong tune-in in both young men demos: +26% M18-49 (707 vs. 562) and +75% in M18-34 (356 vs. 204).

Rank in its Basic Cable Time Period (Thursday, 1000 - 1030P): Archer ranked among the Top 5 programs in its time period in P18-49 and all three key men demos. In P18-49, Archer ranked #5 (986) behind Jersey Shore/MTV (5,737), Beyond Scared Straight/A&E (2,002), NBA on TNT (1,837), Fairly Legal/USA (1,427) but ahead of Real Housewives/Bravo (968), Winter X Games/ESPN (898), Top 20 Most Shocking Moment/truTV (885), and American Dad/Adult Swim (830), to name a few.

FX for the Night: Archer, an Archer repeat, and our Two & A Half Men stack ranked FX #6 for the night in P18-49, #5 in M18-49, and #4 in M25-54.

· Among all basic cable entertainment programs in primetime last night, Archer ranked #4 in M18-49 (707) - ahead of American Dad/Adult Swim (658), Fairly Legal/USA (629), and Jersey Shore [R]/MTV and The First 48/A&E (both 581), to name a few.

Quarter Hours were strong: +1% in P18-49 (968/981); and +12% in M18-34 (329/370).

1100P Encore: as previously mentioned, Archer's 1100P encore was its most-watched encore to date in P18-49 (678) and the same goes for M18-49 (533) and M18-34 (317).

1030P [R]: also suggesting excellent sampling of Archer is that the 1030P Archer [R] (Season 1 finale) improved prior four-week time period averages in all key adult and men demos: by +9% in P18-49 (680 vs. 624), +58% in M18-49 (493 vs. 313), +19% in P18-34 (341 vs. 287), and by double in M18-34 (252 vs. 126).
