NBC Ranks #1 for the Night in Adults 18-49; "Parenthood" Is the #1 Drama in Its Time Period
NBC spins the numbers for Tuesday, October 23.

Tuesday Results:

NBC ranks #1 for the night in adults 18-49 with the #1 show of the night, "The Voice," and the #1 drama on ABC, CBS or NBC at 10, "Parenthood." Versus the same night last year, NBC is up 69% (2.7 vs. 1.6) while ABC, CBS and Fox are down.

* From 8-9:01 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (4.1/12 in 18-49, 10.9 million viewers overall) scored the #1 18-49 rating of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, winning the time period by a 28 percent margin (with a 4.1 rating vs. a 3.2 for CBS's second-place "NCIS") and also topping ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" Results Show by 86 percent (4.1 vs. 2.2). "The Voice" is up 105 percent versus NBC's average in the time period last season in 18-49 rating (4.1 vs. 2.0) and up 78 percent in total viewers (10.905 million vs. 6.116 million).

* "The Voice" grew by 0.8 of a point in 18-49 or 22 percent from half-hour to half-hour (to a 4.5 from a 3.7) and by 12 percent or 1.2 million persons in total viewers (11.5 million vs. 10.3 million).

* From 9:01-9:31 p.m. ET "Go On" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 6.4 million viewers overall) finished within 0.3 of a rating point of #1 in the slot among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 (2.5 vs. 2.8 for CBS's "NCIS" in the half-hour). With its sixth telecast in this slot, "Go On" out-rated ABC's season premiere of "Happy Endings" by 32 percent (2.5 vs. 1.9).

* From 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, "The New Normal" averaged a 1.8/5 in 18-49 and 4.5 million in total viewers and out-rated ABC's season premiere of "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23" in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.7).

* From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "Parenthood" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 4.8 million in total viewers) finished within a tenth of a point of its season-high 18-49 rating despite being preempted for debate coverage last week and facing special "X Factor" competition on Fox from 10-10:30 this week.

* "Parenthood" is the #1 drama on ABC, CBS and NBC in the time period in adults 18-49, topping CBS's "Vegas" by a 27 percent margin (1.9 vs. 1.5) and ABC's "Private Practice" by 36 percent (1.9 vs. 1.4). "Parenthood" was also the hour's #1 drama on ABC, CBS and NBC or tied for #1 in adults 25-54, women 25-54, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34. In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, "Parenthood" tied for #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in the key news demos of adults 25-54 (2.2 rating each for "Parenthood" and "Vegas").

* Keep in mind that last season, "Parenthood" originals added an average of 47 percent to these next-day "live plus same day" ratings in 18-49 when Nielsen reported "live plus seven day" results.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

* In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.7/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 3.0/8; and ABC's combo of "Nightline," 2.9/7; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/5.

* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.7/3; "Nightline," 1.0/4; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

* At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) trailed CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.5/5). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) tied "Late Late Show" (0.5/3).

* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
