UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - March 18, 2014 - NBC has finished #2 among the Big 4 networks for the primetime ratings week of March 3-9 in adults 18-49 and total viewers, with a 55% increase in 18-49 and a 74% jump in total viewers versus the same week last year. According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC averaged a 1.7 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 6.6 million viewers overall for the week of March 10-16, up from its year-ago 1.1 rating in 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall.

For the March 10-16 week, NBC was up versus the same week last year by more than 40% in every key ratings measure.

The Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" ranked #3 and #4 among the week's primetime programs on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, with Monday's debut of "Believe" tying for #9, "About a Boy" tying for #21, and "Chicago Fire" tying for #27. The two editions of "The Voice" were #2 and #3 among Big 4 primetime telecasts in total viewers and adults 25-54 and #1 and #2 among teens 12-17.

Through 25 weeks of the season, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 (tie), all key adult-female demos and other key measures. It's the first time NBC has ranked #1 in 18-49 this late in the season in 10 years (since the 2003-04 season).

NBC's 3.0 rating in adults 18-49 is the network's top average at this point in the season in six years (since a 3.0 in 2007-08).

Versus one year ago, NBC is up 20% season to date in adults 18-49 (3.0 vs. 2.5).

In total viewers, NBC ranks #2 for the season with an average of 10.1 million viewers, which is its biggest overall audience 25 weeks into the season in nine years (since 2004-05, 10.1 million). Versus one year ago, NBC is up 39% season to date in total viewers (10.1 million vs. 7.2 million).

Primetime averages for the week of March 10-16 in adults 18-49 are: ABC, 1.9/6; NBC, 1.7/5; CBS, 1.6/5; Fox, 1.4/4; and CW, 0.4/1. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 8.1 million; NBC, 6.6 million; ABC, 6.5 million; Fox, 4.6 million; and CW, 1.1 million.

Season-to-date averages are: NBC, 3.0/9; Fox, 2.7/8; CBS, 2.4/7; ABC, 2.1/6; and CW, 0.8/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 10.8 million; NBC, 10.1 million; Fox, 8.0 million; ABC, 7.4 million; and CW, 1.9 million.

NBC highlights for the week of March 10-16:

Monday: "The Voice" (3.7 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49, 13.8 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) was the #1 telecast of the night in total viewers and finished #1 for its time period, topping ABC's "Bachelor" finale in adults 18-49 by a 12% margin (with a 3.7 rating vs. a 3.3) and in total viewers by a 37% margin (13.8 million vs. 10.1 million). From its first half-hour to its fourth, "The Voice" grew by 35% in 18-49 rating (to a 4.2 rating from a 3.1) and 24% or 2.9 million persons in total viewers (15.0 million vs. 12.1 million).

A special Monday debut of the new Sunday drama "Believe" (2.7/7 in adults 18-49, 10.6 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) matched NBC's second-highest rating in the time period, excluding Olympics, since Dec. 2. Despite the night's special high-rated competition from "The Bachelor: After the Final Rose," which easily doubled ABC's 18-49 rating in the time period the previous Monday, "Believe" equaled the prior week's "Blacklist" rating in the time slot and trailed only the Feb. 24 "Blacklist" among NBC's non-Olympic programs in the hour since the Dec. 2 "Blacklist" fall finale. Versus NBC's averages in the time period last season, "Believe" was up 35% in 18-49 (2.7 vs. 2.0, L+SD, non-sports) and up 84% in total viewers (10.6 million vs. 5.7 million). In the time period, "Believe" ranked #1 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in men 25-54 and men 18-49 (tie).

Tuesday: NBC finished #1 Tuesday in adults 18-49, winning six of six half-hours in 18-49 with four of the night's top five shows in the demo. NBC won its 17th Tuesday of the season among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, tying the network's record for most in-season Tuesday wins in the 26-year history of Nielsen's current People Meter sample.

"The Voice 6" (3.5/12 in 18-49, 13.5 million viewers overall from 8-9:01 p.m. ET) ranked #1 for the night in 18-49 and finished #1 in its time period among the Big 4 networks in nearly every key measure. "The Voice" grew from its first half-hour to its second by 0.7 or a rating point or 22% in 18-49 rating (to a 3.9 from a 3.2) and by 19% or 2.3 million viewers overall (to 14.6 million from 12.3 million).

"About a Boy" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 7.5 million viewers overall from 9:01-9:31 p.m. ET) ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox by 0.5 of a rating point or 33% in adults 18-49 (2.0 vs. 1.5 for ABC's #2 "The Goldbergs"). In its three weeks on the schedule, "About a Boy" has now generated NBC's three biggest overall audiences in the time period, excluding Olympics, since the Dec. 17 "Voice" finale.

"Growing Up Fisher" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall from 9:31-10 p.m. ET) won the half-hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox by a 13% margin in 18-49 (with a 1.7 rating vs. a 1.5 for CBS's #2 "NCIS: LA" encore). "Growing Up Fisher" retained 85% of its lead-in from "About a Boy", up from the prior Tuesday's 76%.

"Chicago Fire" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall) won the 10 p.m. hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and all other key demos, matching its highest 18-49 rating since Jan. 7 and delivering the show's biggest overall audience since Dec. 10. Week to week, "Chicago Fire" matched its prior 18-49 rating (1.9 vs. 1.9) and is up 2% in total viewers (7.2 million vs. 7.1 million). "Chicago Fire" has now matched or topped its prior 18-49 rating for its last four telecasts in a row. And "Chicago Fire" has also finished #1 or tied for #1 in the slot among ABC, CBS and NBC in 18-49 for its last four consecutive episodes.

Wednesday: On the first Wednesday of Daylight Saving Time, "Revolution" (1.3/4 in adults 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) maintained the 1.3 rating of its prior three telecasts and retained 97% of last week's total-viewer results (4.6 million vs. 4.8 million). L+3 Time-Shifting: "Revolution" grew by 49% in L+3 versus these L+SD figures (to a 1.94 rating from a 1.30).

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.6/5 in adults 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) built on its 18-49 lead-in by 23% and its total-viewer lead-in by 36%. "SVU" grew half-hour to half-hour by 6% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.7 rating from a 1.6) and by 11% in women 18-49 (2.0 vs. 1.8). L+3 Time-Shifting: "SVU" grew by 43% in L+3 versus these L+SD figures in 18-49 (to a 2.36 rating from a 1.65).

From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "Chicago P.D." (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) grew week to week by 7% in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.5), making this the fifth time this season "Chicago P.D." has matched or topped the 18-49 rating of its prior telecast. "Chicago P.D." retained 100% of its lead-in from "SVU" in adults 18-49. From its first half-hour to its second, "Chicago P.D." grew in every key ratings measure, despite the 10 p.m. hour. Increases included 13% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.7 from a 1.5) and 10% in adults 25-54 (2.2 vs. 2.0). L+3 Time-Shifting: "Chicago P.D." grew in L+3 by 42% in 18-49 (to a 2.28 from a 1.61) and by more than 2.1 million viewers (8.0 million vs. 5.8 million).

Thursday: On the first Thursday of Daylight Saving Time, "Community" (1.0/4 in adults 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall from 8-8:30 p.m. ET) equaled its 18-49 rating of the prior two weeks. L+3 Time Shifting: The prior week's "Community" grew by 39% or 0.39 of a rating point going from these L+SD results to L+3 (to a 1.38 from a 0.99)

"Parks and Recreation" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers overall from 8:30-9:01 p.m. ET) built on its "Community" lead-in by 20% in 18-49. L+3 Time Shifting: The prior week's "Parks and Recreation" grew by 34% or 0.43 of a rating point going from these L+SD results to L+3 (to a 1.70 from a 1.27).

"Hollywood Game Night" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall from 9:01-10 p.m.) grew from half-hour to half-hour by 11% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.0 from a 0.9) and by 15% in total viewers (3.1 million vs. 2.7 million).

"Parenthood" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) matched the prior week's 18-49 rating and was up 2% in total viewers (3.9 million vs. 3.8 million), growing to the show's biggest overall audience since before the Olympics on Jan. 23. This week's "Parenthood" grew from half-hour to half-hour by 9% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.2 rating from a 1.1) and 9% in total viewers (4.0 million vs. 3.7 million), despite the 10 p.m. hour. L+3 Time-Shifting: The previous "Parenthood" grew by 66% or 0.79 of a rating point in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 ratings (to a 1.99 from a 1.20) and by 1.9 million viewers overall (to 5.7 million from 3.8 million).

Friday: "Dateline NBC" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew from its first half-hour to its second in all key measures, including gains of 20% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.2 rating from a 1.0) and 29% in adults 25-54 (1.8 vs. 1.4).

"Grimm" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 scripted series of the night in adults 18-49. "Grimm" captured its top rating since Dec. 6 (1.6) and equaled its highest rating since opening its season Oct. 25 with a 1.8. Week to week, "Grimm" was up 7% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.6 from a 1.5) and versus two weeks ago, "Grimm" was up 14% (1.6 vs. 1.4). L+3 Time-Shifting: The prior week's "Grimm" increased by 62% going from these next-day L+SD ratings to L+3 (to a 2.37 from a 1.46) and by more than 2.3 million persons in total viewers (to 8.0 million from 5.7 million).

"Hannibal" (0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.5 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) was up 13% versus the prior week's 0.8 rating in 18-49. L+3 Time-Shifting: The prior week's "Hannibal" grew by 63% going from its next-day L+SD rating to L+3 (to a 1.34 from a 0.82) and by 1.1 million viewers overall (3.6 million vs. 2.5 million).

Saturday: NBC tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in 18-49 Saturday night and won the night among those nets in total viewers, with "Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) taking its time period in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" grew by 100% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.0 rating from a 0.5), 100% in adults 25-54 (1.6 vs. 0.8) and 72% or 2.7 million persons in total viewers (6.6 million vs. 3.8 million). In total viewers, "Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" reported NBC's biggest overall audience in the time period, excluding sports, in three years (since March 5, 2011, 5.420 million).

A rebroadcast of Monday's "Believe" premiere (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) ranked #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures. In total viewers, this is NBC's biggest audience in the hour, excluding sports, since Nov. 9 ("Miss Universe," 4.4 million from 10-11).

Sunday: A "Best of the Blind Auditions" episode of "The Voice" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall from 7-9 p.m. ET) grew from its first hour to its second in all key measures, up 33% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.6 rating from a 1.2), up 50% in adults 25-54 (2.1 vs. 1.4) and up 44% or 1.9 million persons in total viewers (6.1 million vs. 4.2 million).

The regular-slot debut of "Believe" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) generated NBC's biggest overall audience in the slot, excluding sports and the Golden Globes, since Jan. 6, 2013 (a special Sunday premiere of "The Biggest Loser"). Versus NBC's non-sports averages in the time period last year, "Believe" finished within 0.1 of a point in 18-49 (1.5 vs. 1.6, L+SD) and in total viewers was up 30% or more than 1.5 million persons (6.6 million vs. 5.0 million).

The premiere of "Crisis" (1.6/4 in 18-49 and 6.5 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) finished within a tenth of a rating point of #1 in 18-49 among ABC, CBS and NBC in the slot, nearly erasing a deficit of 1.6 rating points during the prior hour, and won the 10 p.m. ET time period among those nets in adults 25-54. "Crisis" built on its 18-49 lead-in by 7%, while rival dramas on ABC and CBS were flat or down versus their lead-ins. Compared with NBC's non-sports averages in the time period last year, "Crisis" finished within 0.2 of a point in 18-49 (1.6 vs. 1.8, L+SD) and in total viewers was up by 20% (6.524 million vs. 5.424 million). The 6.5 million for "Crisis" is NBC's biggest overall audience in the slot, excluding nights featuring sports or the Golden Globes, since Jan. 6, 2013.
