Friday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Keeps Demo Win Streak Going with "Shark Tank"

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/9/14):

ABC (5.931 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) was the demo champ for the sixth week in a row thanks to a repeat of "Shark Tank" (4.441 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7) followed by new episodes of "Shark Tank" (7.165 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) and "20/20" (6.188 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2).

CBS (9.292 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then claimed the silver with the season finales of "Unforgettable" (7.290 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.087 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4) and "Blue Bloods" (11.499 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3).

Next up was NBC (4.231 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its mix of "Dateline NBC" (5.733 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6), "Grimm" (4.838 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4) and "Hannibal" (2.124 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).

Meanwhile, The CW (1.121 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) served up a new "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.516 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #10), a repeat "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.273 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #11) and a new "Hart of Dixie" (0.847 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12).

In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Whose Line" posted a 0.6 rating at 8:00/7:00c and 0.4 rating at 8:30/7:30c while "Dixie" managed a 0.4 rating.

And finally, repeats of "24: Live Another Day" (1.340 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12) and another "24: Live Another Day" (1.384 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12) on FOX (1.362 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/3 in metered-market households with an encore) tied CBS's first-run "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (5/10/13):

ABC (5.106 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) was the top demo draw on Friday thanks to its mix of a "Shark Tank" (3.388 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #9) followed by originals from "Shark Tank" (6.077 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) and "20/20" (5.853 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2).

CBS (7.962 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then remained the most-watched network with a new "Undercover Boss" (6.926 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) alongside the season finales of "Vegas" (7.060 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #8) and "Blue Bloods" (9.902 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5).

Next up was NBC (3.920 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) with the season finale of "Fashion Star" (2.459 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #11) plus newsmagazines "Dateline NBC" (4.524 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and "Rock Center With Brian Williams" (4.778 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4).

Sharing the bronze was FOX (2.917 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) and its season finales of "Kitchen Nightmares" (3.326 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and "Touch" (2.508 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #10).

And finally, a new "Nikita" (1.090 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #12) and a repeat of "Supernatural" (0.596 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.1, #13) closed out the evening for The CW (0.843 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Nikita" delivered a 0.2 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Supernatural" a 0.2 rating at 9:00/8:00c.
