Live + 7 Day Ratings: ABC Claims 3 of the Week's Top 5 Gainers in TV Playback in Adults 18-49

Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 5/12/14 (Week #34):

Please note: ABC's Once Upon a Time and Revenge finished their season runs the prior week.

ABC claimed 4 of the week's Top 10 broadcast gainers in TV playback among Adults 18-49, including 3 of the Top 5: Modern Family (+2.0 rating points) - #2, season finale of Grey's Anatomy (+1.5 rating points) - #4, season finale of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+1.3 rating points) - #5 and season finale of Nashville (+1.1 rating points) - #7.

Nashville shot up +85% over its Live+SD rating to stand as the week's 2nd-biggest percentage gainer on the broadcast networks among Adults 18-49. In fact, growing to a 2.4 rating in the final L+7 numbers, the ABC drama tied NBC's Chicago P.D. as the #1 series in Wednesday's 10pm hour among Adults 18-49. In the L+SD numbers, Nashville was the #3 TV series in the hour among young adults.

In the final Live + 7 Day ratings, The Goldbergs emerged as Tuesday's #1 comedy for the 2nd week in a row among Adults 18-49 (2.4 rating), moving ahead of NBC's About a Boy to lead by 20% (2.0). In the first reported L+SD numbers, The Goldbergs ran 1-tenth of a rating point behind About a Boy. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. shot up to the week's Top 10 highest-rated broadcast series in Adults 18-49 (3.3), ranking #8 versus #15 in the initial Live + Same Day numbers.

Season-to-Date TV Playback (9/23/13-5/18/14):

Based on TV playback data for the 2013-14 season, ABC claims 5 of the Top 10 playback gainers among Adults 18-49 on the broadcast networks (the most of any net): Modern Family (+2.0 rating points) - #2, Grey's Anatomy (+1.8 rating points) - #4, Scandal (+1.6 rating points) and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+1.6 rating points) tied at #5 and Resurrection (+1.3 rating points) - #9. ABC owns 4 of the 10 biggest overall gainers on the broadcast networks (tied with CBS): Modern Family (+4.44 million) - #4, Castle (+4.33 million) - #6, Scandal (+3.92 million) - #7 and Grey's (+3.88 million) - #9.

Nearly all of ABC's returning series are seeing bigger percentage gains among Adults 18-49 from L+SD to L+7 this year than last: The Bachelor (+24% vs. +22%), Castle (+63% vs. +50%), Celebrity Wife Swap (+33% vs. +17%), Dancing with the Stars (+19% vs. +13%), Grey's Anatomy (+67% vs. +52%), Last Man Standing (+46% vs. +33%), The Middle (+30% vs. +26%), Modern Family (+57% vs. +52%), Nashville (+73% vs. +61%), Once Upon a Time (+55% vs. +41%), Revenge (+63% vs. +45%), Scandal (+53% vs. +36%) and Shark Tank (+37% vs. +21%).

· Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is Tuesday's #1 scripted show this season with Adults 18-49 based on original telecasts, beating CBS' NCIS (4.0 rating vs. 3.9 rating). Based on first-run telecasts in the L+7 Adult 18-49 ratings, ABC claims the season's #1 scripted show on Tuesday (S.H.I.E.L.D. - 4.0), #1 show on Wednesday (Modern Family - 5.5), #1 drama on Thursday (Scandal - 4.6), #1 show on Friday (Shark Tank - 2.6) and #1 broadcast series on Sunday (Resurrection - 3.8). Further, based on originals in the L+7 ratings, ABC owns the Top 2 dramas on Thursday with Scandal (4.6) and Grey's (4.5) and the Top 2 broadcast series on Sunday with Resurrection (3.8) and Once Upon a Time (3.4) among Adults 18-49
