"Extant" Delivers the Summer's Largest Audience for a Scripted Series Premiere

"Extant" Is Also the #1 New Scripted Show of the Summer in Viewers and Demos

"Big Brother" Wins in Viewers and Key Demos with Across-the-Board Increases From Last Week

CBS Tops Wednesday in Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54

The premiere of EXTANT delivered the summer's largest audience for a scripted series premiere and opened as the top new scripted series of the summer in viewers and key demos, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Wednesday, July 9.

At 9:00 PM, the series premiere of EXTANT (P) was first in viewers (9.42m), adults 25-54 (2.4/07) and adults 18-49 (1.7/06). EXTANT posted the summer's largest audience for a scripted premiere (just ahead of UNDER THE DOME's 9.41m viewers) and the best new summer series premiere audience to date. EXTANT posted the best delivery for a new summer series premiere in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and was the night's top broadcast in both viewers and adults 25-54.

Live +3-day ratings for EXTANT will be available on Monday.

Earlier at 8:00 PM, BIG BROTHER WEDNESDAY was first in viewers (6.11m), adults 25-54 (2.3/08), adults 18-49 (1.9/06) and adults 18-34 (1.3/06). Compared to last week, BIG BROTHER was up +5% in adults 25-54 (from 2.2/07), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 1.8/07), +18% in adults 18-34 (from 1.1/05) and added +440,000 viewers (from 5.67m, +8%). BIG BROTHER was the night's top broadcast in adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.

For the night, CBS was first in viewers (7.34m), adults 25-54 (2.2/07) and adults 18-49 (1.6/06).
