2.6 MILLION VIEWERS RETURN FOR SEASON TWO PREMIERE OF "THE CURSE OF OAK ISLAND"

HISTORY's Unscripted Series Posts Season-to-Season Growth in All Key Demos

New York, NY - November 5, 2014 - 2.6 million viewers felt The Curse last night during the season two premiere of HISTORY's unscripted series THE CURSE OF OAK ISLAND (#OakIsland), logging in a +4% jump versus the program's premiere earlier this year. The series, in which two brothers employ new technology and old-fashioned know-how to attempt to discover one of the greatest treasures ever, also averaged 1.3 million Adults 25-54 viewers (+8%), 1.1 million Adults 18-49 viewers (+21%), 834,000 Men 25-54 viewers (+14%) and 731,000 Men 18-49 viewers (+29%) at 9:00pm ET/PT, according to Nielsen Fast Cable Ratings.

In season two of THE CURSE OF OAK ISLAND, brothers Rick and Marty Lagina are ratcheting up their search for an elusive treasure that sits at the heart of a 200-year-old mystery. Located in the North Atlantic, Oak Island is believed by many to be hiding one of the greatest treasures in history. Since the late 1700s, fortunes have been spent and lives have been lost, but no one has ever been able to crack the code to get at the prize. A prophecy says that seven people will die before the treasure is found. So far, six have perished in accidents across the years. In this season, Rick and Marty are upping the stakes after their invigorating find of a 17th century coin they discovered at the end of season one. This time around, the brothers and their team of experts are digging deeper and pushing their search further. They will use new technology and explore new theories, hunting clues from around the world to find out what lies beneath Oak Island.

THE CURSE OF OAK ISLAND is produced for HISTORY by Prometheus Entertainment. Kevin Burns serves as executive producer for Prometheus. Matt Ginsburg, Mike Stiller and Elaine Frontain Bryant are executive producers for HISTORY.
