Saturday's Broadcast Ratings: "48 Hours" Repeats Keep CBS on Top

Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/8/15):

CBS (4.125 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #1) claimed the top spot on Saturday with its repeat lineup of "Hawaii Five-0" (2.934 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3), "48 Hours" (4.426 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) and another "48 Hours" (5.017 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #1).

ABC (2.056 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.4, #2) then claimed the silver with repeats of "America's Funniest Home Videos" (2.787 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3), "Bachelor in Paradise" (1.199 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T7) and a new "Boston EMS" (2.182 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T5).

Next up was FOX (1.275 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T3) and encores of "Bullseye" (1.153 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T7) and "Home Free" (1.397 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T5).

And finally, a repeat "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (1.308 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.2, #11) as well as originals from "Aquarius" (1.275 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T7) and "Hannibal" (1.074 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T7) on NBC (1.219 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T3) closed out the evening.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· An encore telecast of "Saturday Night Live," with host Jim Carrey and musical guest Iggy Azalea, averaged a 2.2 rating, 6 share in household results in Nielsen's 56 metered markets and a 0.8/4 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with Local People Meters, matching the show's results for the prior two weeks in both measures.

· "SNL" was the #1 program of the night on the Big 4 networks in 18-49 in the Local People Meters, beating all the night's primetime programming on those networks.

· Note that "SNL" adds significant viewership via time-shifting, with originals this season growing by an average of +44% going from "live plus same day ratings" to "live plus seven day" in adults 18-49 (from a 1.84 rating to a 2.65).


Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/9/14):

NBC (4.649 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) was the most-watched network on Saturday thanks to a two-hour "Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" (5.068 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) and a repeat of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (3.810 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2).

ABC (4.188 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) then shared top demo honors with its mix of "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (3.002 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5), "20/20" (4.365 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) and another "20/20" (5.196 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1).

Next up was CBS (3.737 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3) with encores of "Unforgettable" (3.677 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7), "Person of Interest" (3.249 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7) and "48 Hours" (4.286 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5).

And finally, repeats of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.080 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9), another "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.080 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9) and "Gang Related" (0.894 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #11) on FOX (0.987 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) closed out the evening.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

·An encore telecast of "Saturday Night Live," with host Edward Norton and musical guest Janelle Monae, averaged a 2.4/6 in household results in Nielsen's 56 metered markets and a 0.9/5 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with Local People Meters, to rank as the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

·The 2.4 in metered-market households matched "Saturday Night Live's" top rating since July 12 (2.5 with host Kerry Washington and musical guest Eminem).
