Saturday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Edges Demo Race with MLB

Here are the highlights of the eight ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (6/17/17):

FOX (2.352 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #1) was the demo champ on Saturday with its weekly "FOX Sports Saturday Presents Major League Baseball" (2.352 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.5, #1).

ABC (2.670 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.4, #2) then was the most-watched network with a repeat "To Tell the Truth" (2.418 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T2) plus "20/20: In an Instant" (2.797 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T2).

Next up was CBS (2.357 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T3) and its repeat lineup of "Scorpion" (2.042 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.2, #8), "Criminal Minds" (2.410 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5) and "48 Hours" (2.619 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T2).

And finally, an encore of "World of Dance" (1.819 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5) and "Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" (2.443 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5) rounded out the evening on NBC (2.235 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T3).

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· A June 17 encore of "Saturday Night Live," hosted by Scarlett Johansson and featuring musical guest Lorde, has averaged a 2.6 rating, 7 share in households in Nielsen's 56 metered markets and a 0.9/5 in 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

· Last night's "Saturday Night Live" encore was the #1 show of the night on the broadcast networks in both metered-market household and 18-49 in the local people meters, outrating every Saturday primetime telecast on those nets in both measures.


Here are the highlights of the eight ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (6/18/16):

CBS (2.966 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.4, #3) was the most-watched network on Saturday with its mix of "NCIS: Los Angeles" (2.683 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5), "48 Hours" (2.821 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) and another "48 Hours" (3.395 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1).

FOX (2.777 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) then led the demo race with its coverage of "Baseball Night in America" (2.777 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1).

Sharing the adults 18-49 crown was ABC (2.577 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) with a new "People's List" (2.110 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5) and the return of "In an Instant" (2.811 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1).

And finally, NBC (1.318 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.3, #4) closed out the night with "Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (1.406 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5) and "Premier Boxing Champions" (1.300 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5).

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· An encore telecast of "Saturday Night Live," with host Peter Dinklage and musical guest Gwen Stefani, averaged a 2.4 rating, 6 share in household results from the 56 markets metered by Nielsen Media Research and a 1.0/5 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

· "Saturday Night Live" ranks as the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in both metered-market households (tie) and 18-49 in the local people meters.

· The June 18 "SNL" equaled the show's June 2015 average in 18-49 in the local people meters (1.0 vs. 1.0).

· Note that "SNL" adds significant viewership via time-shifting, with originals this past season growing by +49% going from L+SD to L+7 in adults 18-49 (1.83 to 2.72) and +2.090 million persons in total viewers (6.051 million to 8.141 million).
