"60 MINUTES" CONTINUES ITS REIGN AS TELEVISION'S #1 NEWS PROGRAM FOR THE 2022-2023 SEASON
The CBS Newsmagazine Scores Five Wins as TV's Top-Rated Primetime Broadcast for the Season
Sunday marked the 55th season finale of 60 MINUTES. The venerable CBS newsmagazine ended its 2022-23 broadcast with five wins as television's #1 primetime broadcast in viewers and adults 18+. Season 55 of 60 MINUTES delivered 8.87 million viewers according to Nielsen most current ratings, making the CBS newsmagazine, again, the #1 news program on television, across broadcast and cable.
According to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for this past Sunday, May 21, 60 MINUTES was up +12% in both viewers and adults 18+, year-over-year. Out of 30 airings, the newsmagazine made the top five 23 times and the top 10 29 times.
In addition to its ratings success on television, 60 MINUTES dominates as a multiplatform brand. During the 2022-23 broadcast season, 60 MINUTES' YouTube subscriptions hit an all-time high, capturing 2 million subscribers. The newsmagazine's combined social accounts (TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram) attracted more than 30 million video views over the past month.
Sunday's edition of 60 MINUTES featured Bill Whitaker's investigation into how the Pentagon, and taxpayers, get taken advantage of by U.S. defense contractors; Sharyn Alfonsi's spotlight on how cyber scammers target parents and grandparents for digital theft; and Anderson Cooper's profile of Jeff Koons, one of the most prominent and polarizing artists in the world.
