WGN AMERICA UNVEILS FIRST TRAILER FOR "MANHATTAN" SEASON TWO

POWERFUL NEW SEASON OF EMMY-NOMINATED DRAMA SETS OFF TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13

Los Angeles, August 18, 2015 -- WGN America has released today an evocative new trailer for the second season of its Emmy(R)-nominated drama "Manhattan," featuring a first-look at footage from the highly anticipated new season set to return Tuesday, October 13 (9:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. CT). Following an unforgettable first season, the trailer hints at the questionable motivations, duplicitous nature and high stakes secrets held by the series' main characters inside the world's most guarded city.

The trailer offers clues into what may have happened to Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey) after his mortal fate was left uncertain, and also includes the first footage of William Petersen as Col. Emmett Darrow, the enigmatic new ranking military officer at Los Alamos who feels called by God to usher in the atomic future and to spread American values across the globe.

Created by Sam Shaw ("Masters of Sex") and directed by Emmy Award-winning director Thomas Schlamme ("The West Wing"), the all-new season of "Manhattan" will take viewers inside the world of Los Alamos, where locked away from everyone else, scientists and their families surrender their freedoms, compromise their marriages, and even sacrifice their sanity to end one bloody war and usher in another - the Cold War waiting just over the atomic horizon - all while foreign spies and a climate of paranoia threaten to destroy the project from within.

"Manhattan" stars Emmy-nominated actor John Benjamin Hickey ("The Big C," "The Good Wife") as Frank Winter, a brilliant and conflicted physicist who helped design the world's first weapon of mass destruction, and who is now beginning to question how it will be used; Olivia Williams ("Rushmore," "The Ghost Writer") as his wife, Liza Winter, an accomplished scientist in her own right who battles the Hill's draconian security state presided over by Col. Emmett Darrow, the new ranking military officer played by William Petersen ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation"); Ashley Zukerman ("The Code," "Rush") and Rachel Brosnahan ("House of Cards," "The Dovekeepers"), who play Charlie and Abby Isaacs, a young couple who will both embrace and struggle with their unexpected new power on The Hill; along with Katja Herbers ("The Americans," "De Storm") as Helen Prins; Christopher Denham ("Argo," "Shutter Island") as Jim Meeks; Harry Lloyd ("Game of Thrones," "The Theory of Everything") as Paul Crosley; Michael Chernus ("Orange Is The New Black," "The Big C") as Louis "Fritz" Fedowitz; and Daniel Stern ("Home Alone," "Home Alone 2") as Glen Babbit. Mamie Gummer ("Ricki and the Flash," "The Good Wife") joins the season two cast as Nora, a member of the Women's Army Corps who undergoes a political awakening when she's assigned to a post at Los Alamos, and Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor/director/producer Griffin Dunne ("Dallas Buyers Club," "After Hours") will play Woodrow Lorentzen, a tenacious and self-destructive newspaper reporter who finds his way inside the gates at Los Alamos and discovers not only the scoop of a lifetime, but a chance to turn his life around. Also joining the season two cast is Neve Campbell ("Scream 4," "Mad Men," "Party of Five") in the role of Kitty Oppenheimer, the formidable and mercurial First Lady of Los Alamos whose intersection with Abby Isaacs will affect both their husbands and the future of the project.

"Manhattan" is produced by Lionsgate Television, Skydance Television and Tribune Studios. The series is executive produced by Sam Shaw, Thomas Schlamme, Dustin Thomason, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross.
