ABC Renames 'Sam I Am,' Eyes Friday Changes
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC has rebranded its new comedy "Sam I Am" while its fall schedule may see some tinkering on Friday nights.

The Christina Applegate-led half-hour is now being dubbed "Samantha Be Good" due to clearance issues with the estate of Dr. Seuss. The original title alluded to the oft repeated line from the classic Seuss book "Green Eggs and Ham."

Neither the Alphabet nor producer ABC Studios commented on the change, which has been reflected in the show's press materials.

Meanwhile in other fall news, "Men in Trees" creator Jenny Bicks spilled the beans on a potential change to the network's Friday schedule in her latest blog posting to ABC.com (click here). The original posting, which subsequently has been edited, read:

SEASON TWO will start airing FRIDAY NIGHTS at 9:00 pm (our launch slot) starting at the end of September or beginning of October. This is the one date that they have not released yetbut stay tuned, we will have it well in advance of our premiere. NOTE: ABC officially announced we were on at 8 pm on Fridays, this has been changed. We are now premiering in the 9:00 pm time slot, after 20/20. So, dont get confused. 9:00 pm. Friday nights. We will be followed by Womens Murder Club at 10 pm.

The post, which was changed over the weekend, now simply reads:

SEASON TWO will start airing FRIDAY NIGHTS at the end of September or beginning of October. This is the one date that they have not released yetbut stay tuned, we will have it well in advance of our premiere.

The network originally slated "Men in Trees" for the 8:00/7:00c hour this fall, followed by "Club" at 9:00/8:00c and "20/20" at 10:00/9:00c.

Nevertheless, ABC and Warner Bros. Television have yet to confirm any of the changes.
