BROOKLYN DUO TIFFANY ALEXANDER AND SERENA MCKINNEY WIN UPNS HALF & HALF FASTTRACK CONTEST
In last nights HALF & HALF episode, Brooklyn duo Tiffany Alexander and Serena McKinney were announced as winners of UPNs HALF & HALF FastTrack competition by multiple Grammy Award-winning music producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Alexander and McKinney beat out the other four finalists to receive a cash prize, a returning role on the show and the opportunity to possibly record a single with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
As a challenge during the episode, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis asked the finalists to choose a song randomly out of a hat and perform it adding their own style and flair, in which Alexander and McKinney performed a soulful rendition of America The Beautiful. In addition, each of the finalists had an opportunity to practice their own original material in a recording studio while receiving critiques from the producers. At the end of the episode, all of the finalists performed in front of an audience and the judges announced their decision.
In the UPN series HALF & HALF, music executive Mona Thorne (Rachel True) created the nationwide contest to find an exciting new vocalist or musical group for the fictitious Delicious Records label, bringing a reality element to the hilarious scripted sitcom.
Now in its third season, twenty-something half-sisters Mona and Dee Dee Thorne had only one thing in common - their father. Growing up separately, these two virtual strangers suddenly became neighbors in the same San Francisco apartment building and experience the challenges of sisterhood for the first time. Now that they have grown closer, they realize that despite their different upbringings they share more similarities than they thought.
Yvette Lee Bowser ("A Different World," "Living Single" and "For Your Love") is executive producer. Jeffrey Klarik ("Mad About You") created the series. The series is produced by SisterLee Productions, Inc. in association with Eye Productions Inc.
