Showtime Turns March 7 Into 'Fat Monday' With a Host of Detectible Programs Anchored by Kirstie Alley's 'Fat Actress'
LOS ANGELES, March 2 -- Consumers with an appetite for great
programming are in for a delicious treat. SHOWTIME is dubbing March 7
"FAT MONDAY" with a whole block of food-related shows featuring the much
anticipated premiere of Kirstie Alley's FAT ACTRESS.
The smorgasbord kicks off at 8:15 PM (ET/PT) with the premiere of SUPER
SIZE ME. This Sundance Film Festival -- winning documentary by Morgan Spurlock
documents the filmmaker over a 30-day period in which he ate three meals a
day -- all from the McDonald's menu.
The debut of FAT ACTRESS follows at 10 PM (ET/PT) and marks Emmy(R) and
Golden Globe(R) Award-winning actress Kirstie Alley's long-awaited return to
series television. Largely improvisational, FAT ACTRESS takes its inspiration
from Alley's real life struggles with love and weight in an unforgiving
Hollywood. Alley plays a fictional version of herself -- a successful
television and movie star whose weight gain has become the subject of tabloid
headlines and the bane of her existence. Series regulars include Bryan
Callen, who plays Alley's assistant and Rachael Harris, her hair and makeup
artist. FAT ACTRESS is co-created by Alley and Brenda Hampton ("Seventh
Heaven). Sandy Chanley ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") also executive produces
through her production company, Production Partners, Inc.
FAT MONDAY will conclude with a special repeat episode of SHOWTIME's
award-winning comedy series PENN & TELLER: BULLSHIT! at 10:30 PM 9ET/PT) on
the topic of dieting.
