NOTHING TAME ABOUT WILD FAMILY DRAMA

- BBC America returns to South Africa for the second season of Wild at Heart -

The adventure continues in the beautiful African bush as Wild at Heart returns for a second season with ten all new-episodes of the acclaimed drama. It's been over a year since the dysfunctional Trevanion family swapped conventional city life in Britain for the excitement and dangers of life running a game park in South Africa. As hungry lions circle their house searching for food, the Trevanions also struggle to put food on their tableliving the dream is much more work than they ever imagined. Wild at Heart premieres Sunday, October 14, 7:00p.m. ET/4:00p.m. PT. The remaining episodes will premiere on Sundays at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT.

The drama series, created by International Emmy winner Ashley Pharoah, Life on Mars, was shot on location at the 1500-acre Glen Afric game sanctuary in South Africa. Wild at Heart is also the inspiration for a fall network premiere, Life is Wild, on CW.

The second season opens with the family loving life at their lodge, the Leopard's Den. But the tourist business has been slow and while Danny Trevanion (Stephen Tompkinson, Prime Suspect) is trying to grow his veterinary practice, he's easily distracted by mending an old goat's leg or other pro bono work. Tensions mount as Danny's wife, Sarah (Amanda Holden, Cutting It), tries to build a business out of nothing while also looking after her two kids Evan (Luke Ward-Wilkinson) and Oliva (Rafaella Hutchinson). Just to keep things interesting, Rosie (Lucy Jo-Hudson), Danny's daughter, has dropped out of college and is returning to the lodge unannouncedbut not before getting tipsy at Max's bar.

Sarah's first business triumph comes dangerously close to disaster when she books the lodge's first wedding reception. Danny fails to buy prey animals for the farm and now hungry lions are roaming a little too close for comfort. Meanwhile the charming but ruthless rival owner of the Mara game park, Alex Tate (Gary Lawson), and an American tourist, are hunting a rhino that turns on them. Danny and Rosie rush to their aid, but are too latea grim reminder of the dangers of the bush.

Throughout the season, the Leopard's Den has several unannounced guestsfirst Sarah's mother, Caroline (Hayley Mills, Parent Trap), lands at the lodge, disrupting the family's new found harmony. Then Sarah's ex-husband, Simon (Vincent Regan, 300, Rescue Me), and his fiance, ascend on Africa to get married. And, while married life isn't easy, when another friend is attacked by a lion, the real dangers of living with wild animals become apparent to Danny. Will he have to give up his dreams and return to Britain?
