90210 (The CW) - "Gilmore Girls" alum Rebecca Kirshner has inked a two-year, seven-figure overall deal with CBS Paramount Network Television. For the first year of the pact, Kirshner will continue as an executive producer on "90210," where she serves alongside showrunners Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, after which she'll focus on development.
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (CBS) - Lifetime has snagged the show's off-network rights from Twentieth Television for a whopping $80 million, or about $725,000-$750,000 per episode. The bid, which beat out TBS, ABC Family, FX and Comedy Central, marks one of the largest by a cable network for a half-hour's first cycle, second only to FX's upcoming run of "Two and a Half Men" ($750,000-$800,000 an episode) in 2010. In addition, Twentieth will hold back three 30-second spots per episode for national ad sales, which could be worth up to $200,000 or more per episode. That's in addition to the $800,000 per episode Twentieth hopes to make through "Mother's" syndicated run on local stations across the country (read the story). The four-year deal begins in September 2010 while twice weekly plays are set to begin early next year (a la "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office" on TBS). Lifetime will also extend the agreement for each year CBS renews "Mother" beyond its fifth season, up to eight seasons.
