FOR THE FIRST TIME, DR. PHIL LEAVES STAGE 29 IN HOLLYWOOD TO KICK OFF PREMIERE WEEK LIVE FROM NEW YORK ON SEPTEMBER 14th AND IN PHILADELPHIA ON SEPTEMBER 16th

Dr. Phil "Meets You Where You Are" In Iconic Locations--NYC Taxi Cabs, Carnegie Deli, Kleinfeld's Bridal Shop And Philadelphia's Historic District

(August 18, 2009, Los Angeles, CA) -- To launch the eighth season of his namesake show, Dr. Phil McGraw will broadcast live for the first time ever from his "studio on the street" in both New York and Philadelphia. The new season will begin on Monday, September 14, when DR. PHIL will premiere live from New York City. On September 16, DR. PHIL will broadcast live from Philadelphia.

Dr. Phil will literally be "taking it to the streets" when the show originates from popular locations in both cities. Be it iconic backdrops or local grocery stores, Dr. Phil plans to meet his viewers where they are all season long, starting in the Big Apple and the City of Brotherly Love. Over the course of 8 days, New Yorkers might find Dr. Phil sitting in the taxi cab they just hailed or lunching at one of the most famous delis in the world. Philadelphians could very well walk into their favorite Philly cheese steak place or be commuting on Amtrak and find Dr. Phil sitting right next to them.

"This season, I am dedicated to giving viewers the tools they need to move in the right direction in their lives," said Dr. Phil. "That's been my mission since we started this show and I'm even more committed to that as we head into our eighth year. I'm out there on the streets because I want to hear about what's important to my audience, and if it matters to them, we'll deal with it on the show, and offer real-life solutions to real-life problems."

The issues that resonate in people's daily lives -- their challenges, successes, their hopes and their dreams, even if they seem unreachable in these tough times -- will shape the conversations in Season 8. DR. PHIL will also focus on stories pulled from the news of the day, while continuing to tackle the evergreen issues faced by ordinary Americans: family dynamics, inspirational stories, kids, relationships, self-esteem, health and workplace issues.

Direct, personal interactions will underscore Dr. Phil's role as the ultimate, plain spoken, no-nonsense coach viewers first embraced when he arrived on the national scene, offering the guidance that millions of viewers have depended on over the past decade and which has made DR. PHIL one of the most highly rated daily programs in syndication.

About The DR. PHIL Show: The syndicated series, DR. PHIL, was created by Harpo Productions, and is produced by Peteski Productions in association with CBS Television Distribution. It is broadcast on over 214 stations representing 100% of the country. Since its debut in September 2002, the series has been ranked second among all daytime talk shows and consistently ranks among the Top Ten of all syndicated strips (Source: NSS Ranking Report).
