STARS OF UPCOMING DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE "LET IT SHINE" OPEN THE 43RD ANNUAL NAACP IMAGE AWARDS NOMINEES' LUNCHEON WITH SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE

Tyler James Williams, Coco Jones and Trevor Jackson, the stars of the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, "Let It Shine," delivered a rousing performance that opened the 43rd Annual NAACP Image Awards Nominees' Luncheon today at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Debuting two songs from the movie (set to premiere in June 2012 on Disney Channel), the multi-talented trio performed the contemporary hip-hop/rap and gospel number "Let It Shine," accompanied by an 18-member choir and dancers. Showcasing her vocal versatility, 14 year-old Coco Jones, first discovered through Radio Disney's "N.B.T." ("Next BIG Thing") musical talent showcase, also performed the movie's soaring "Good to Be Home." Jones' tour de force continued with an a cappella performance of "At Last," as tribute to her musical inspiration, Etta James.

A modern day story inspired by the ghostwritten love letters of Cyrano de Bergerac, "Let it Shine" is set in the world of hip-hop, rap and gospel music and expresses the importance of staying true to oneself. Geared towards kids, tweens and families, the story follows a shy, talented musician who pens romantic hip-hop verses only to stand idly by as they're delivered to the girl of his dreams by a proxy, his best friend.

"Let It Shine" is part of the popular Disney Channel Original Movie franchise, the industry's gold standard when it comes to relevant stories, diversity and pro-social messages for a generation of kids. A Disney Channel Original Movie has delivered cable television's #1 original movie telecast among Tweens 9-14 and Total Viewers for the past 10 and 5 years, respectively. The 80+ movies share attributes that reflect Disney's heritage and core values: trust, quality, optimism, self-expression, creativity, storytelling, imagination and entertainment.

Starring are Tyler James Williams ("Everybody Hates Chris"), Coco Jones (Radio Disney "N.B.T."), Trevor Jackson ("Eureka"), Brandon Mychal Smith ("So Random!"), Nicole Sullivan ("MADtv"), Courtney B. Vance ("FlashForward") and Dawnn Lewis ("A Different World").

"Let It Shine" is directed by two-time DGA award winner Paul Hoen ("Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam," "JONAS"), was written by Don D. Scott ("Barbershop," "Barbershop 2: Back in Business") and Eric Daniel. The movie is choreographed by Danny Teeson ("American Idol") and associate Brandon Shaw ("So You Think You Can Dance," NAACP Image Awards). Songwriters include: Antonina Armato, David Banner, Andy Dodd, In-Q, J-Doe, Toby Gad, Adam Hicks, Tim James, Steven Jones, Jay L'Oreal, Justin Mobley, Tocarra Phillips, Lindy Robbins, Thomas Armato Sturges, Dapo Torimiro, Anya Vasilenko, Jon Vella, Lambert "Stereo" Waldrip and Adam Watts. "Let It Shine" is a production of G Wave Productions, LLC.

Disney Channel is a 24-hour kid-driven, family inclusive television network that taps into the world of kids and families through original series and movies. Currently available on basic cable in over 99 million U.S. homes and to millions of other viewers on Disney Channels around the world, Disney Channel is part of the Disney/ABC Television Group.
