Marci Cooperstein Promoted to Vice President, Programming and Development, ABC Family

MARCI COOPERSTEIN PROMOTED TO VICE PRESIDENT, PROGRAMMING AND DEVELOPMENT, ABC FAMILY

BURBANK, CA - April 22 2013 - Marci Cooperstein has been promoted to Vice President, Programming and Development, ABC Family, it was announced today by Kate Juergens, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Development, ABC Family to whom she reports.

"Marci has a proven ability to develop shows that connect with millennials and further our brand," said Juergens. "She is a gifted leader with great passion, a creative edge and an exceptional eye for talent."

In her new position, Cooperstein will focus on identification and development of new original series in both the drama and comedy genres. She also has oversight of existing one hour dramas, including "Twisted."

Cooperstein who was named to Hollywood Reporter's Next Generation list in 2011 and Daily Variety's New Leaders list in 2012, was most recently Executive Director, Programming and Development, ABC Family, where she developed the groundbreaking original drama "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," the number one comedy series in ABC Family history, "Baby Daddy," the Peabody Award winning "Switched at Birth" and new series premiering later this year including the comedy-reality series "Dancing Fools."

Under Juergens, ABC Family has dramatically increased the amount and scope of development of new programming. With five new series and three movies premiering this year, alongside four returning hits and a multitude of series in development, Juergens has aligned her programming team with Brooke Bowman, Senior Vice President, Programming and Development who oversees scripted development; Marci Cooperstein, Vice President Programming and Development; Robert Prinz, Director Programming and Development; Elizabeth Boykewich, Vice President Casting overseeing the casting and talent development for all series; Sandy Varo Jarrell who oversees unscripted programming, and Jennifer Gerstenblatt, Director Current Programming.
