INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY'S HAUNTING NEW CRIME SPECIAL "RESTLESS SOULS" SEEKS ANSWERS BEYOND THE GRAVE TO CLOSE A COLD CASE

(Silver Spring, MD) - There's a saying that the dead tell no tales, but that's not always the case. Investigation Discovery's all-new special RESTLESS SOULS reveals what happens when a murder victim returns from beyond the grave to expose her killer's deadly secrets and avenge her untimely death. Premiering Monday, April 14 at 9/8c on Investigation Discovery, RESTLESS SOULS examines the 2004 murder mystery of Ashley Howley and how a complete stranger, psychic medium Kristy Robinett, volunteered her services to help solve the case and bring closure to Howley's family. Interviews with Robinett, law enforcement, and loved ones including Howley's cousin and the family spokesperson Kerry Combs, illustrate the three-year police investigation alongside Robinett's independent search for answers using the victim's own ghostly clues as her guide.

"RESTLESS SOULS goes beyond the grave to investigate murder like ID has never done before, with help from the victim herself," said Kevin Bennett, general manager of Investigation Discovery. "By crossing our signature true-crime programming with this paranormal investigation, we expand beyond the traditional crime-solving techniques and demonstrate how real people have found closure in the deaths of their loved ones through alternate means."

After calling the police to report a break in at her Columbus, Ohio, apartment, 20-year-old Ashley Howley went missing. Though her car was discovered abandoned in a parking lot nearby, the case went cold for more than a year with little evidence leading police to her body or killer. Then one night not far from Howley's family home in Michigan, Kristy Robinett was awakened by the ghost of a young woman who called herself Ashley and claimed to have been murdered. It wasn't unheard of for a restless soul to make its presence known to Robinett, a psychic medium who has communicated with the dead since childhood and been called upon by law enforcement to aid investigations. What made this time different was that it was the ghost rather than the police enlisting her services. An internet search led Robinett to news reports of Howley's disappearance with photos identical to her supernatural visitor. For months, Howley's spirit revisited Robinett to offer more clues about her body's location. She volunteered her time and unique abilities to help locate Howley's grave, working with local police and a family advocate, Howley's cousin Kerry Combs, to piece together the clues. Her three-year journey ended as surprisingly as it began, with a shocking discovery that left many questioning their belief in life after death.

RESTLESS SOULS is produced for Investigation Discovery by Indigo Films with David M. Frank as executive producer and Carl Schick as supervising producer. For Investigation Discovery, Max Culhane is executive producer, Sara Kozak is senior vice president of production, Kevin Bennett is general manager, and Henry Schleiff is Group President of Investigation Discovery, Destination America, American Heroes Channel, and Discovery Fit & Health.

About Kristy Robinett

Kristy Robinett is a psychic medium and author who began seeing spirits at the age of three. When she was eight, the spirit of her deceased grandfather helped her escape from a would-be kidnapper, and it was then that Robinett realized the Other Side wasn't so far away. As an adult, she was often called upon by the local police department to examine cold cases in a new light and from a different angle. She gained a solid reputation for being extremely accurate at psychical profiling and giving new perspectives on unsolved crimes. It was then that she began working with a variety of law enforcement agencies, attorneys and private investigators around the United States, aiding in missing persons, arson, and cold cases.

Robinett teaches psychic development and paranormal investigating at local colleges, lectures across the country and is a regular media commentator. She is the author of It's a Wonderful AfterLife; Forevermore: Guided in Spirit by Edgar Allan Poe; Messenger Between Worlds: True Stories from a Psychic Medium; Intuitions Oracle; Ghosts of Southeast Michigan; and Michigan's Haunted Legends and Lore.
