KNIFEMAN (AMC; W: Rolin Jones & Ron Fitzgerald; D: Craig Zisk) - Tom Hollander and Daniel Mays are set to topline the drama pilot, set in 18th century London and focusing on the untold story of a charming, arrogant, decorum-breaking genius who challenges societal norms to transform his visions into cutting-edge discoveries. A surgeon or "barber" in a time when blood-letting and praying was the norm, John Tattersal (Hollander) is a hard drinking, hard living man not afraid to push the boundaries of modern medicine, even if it takes digging up a few graves to do it. While he makes his living running an unlicensed operating theatre out of his residence, he picks up extra cash harvesting organs for his brother Julian (Mays), favorite son and prized physician of the St. Stephen's teaching hospital. MICHELLE KNIGHT STORY, THE (Lifetime, New!) - Network mainstays Judith Verno and Frank Von Zerneck are developing a docudrama based on "the true story of Michelle Knight, a 21-year-old single mom fighting for custody of her two-year-old son, whose life was irrevocably changed after she was abducted by Ariel Castro in Cleveland on August 22, 2002, and held as his prisoner in his home for over 11 years." Stephen Tolkin is attached to pen the script for Sony Pictures Television. (Variety.com)

YANK (Showtime, New!) - Elisa Zuritsky and Julie Rottenberg ("Smash") are set to team with Richard Shepard ("Girls") for a new comedy at the pay channel about "on a young man who ventures out of his sheltered, ultra-orthodox Jewish community in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to pursue his passion of becoming a stand-up comedian." Fox 21 is behind the half-hour with Shepard's Olé partners Sean and Bryan Furst serving as executive producers alongside the aforementioned trio. (Deadline.com)
