CROWN, THE (Netflix, New!) - Academy Award nominees Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon) and Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) are reportedly developing a new series at the streaming service based on their recent play "The Audience." Said effort "centers on the weekly audiences given by Queen Elizabeth II to prime ministers that date back from her accession in 1952 to the present day." Sony Pictures Television is behind the project, which will also be executive produced by Andy Harries, Robert Fox and Matthew Byam Shaw with Daldry directing from a script by Morgan. (THR.com)

RETURNED, THE (A&E; W: Carlton Cuse & Raelle Tucker; D: TBA) - Mark Pellegrino ("The Tomorrow People") is the first to be cast in the upcoming drama, which focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. He will play the rugged Jack, "father of 20-year-old twin girls Lena, and Camille, who died in a school bus crash four years ago at age 16 and are now coming back." (Deadline.com)
