EAST OF EXURBIA (Xbox, New!) - Nick Kreiss and Ian Wolterstorff are developing a new scripted comedy at the company about "three guys who try to build a bastion of bro-fueled debauchery in a house that happens to be situated on top of a magical portal to other worlds." Said effort comes from Five All in the Fifth Entertainment and Avalon Entertainment with Doug Banker, David Martin and Dan Lubetkin also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
FAIREST OF THE MALL (Disney Channel, New!) - Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas ("Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja") have scored a pilot order for a new comedy at the network about "a teenage girl who lands her dream job at the plaza's hottest clothing store - only to lose it once she's set up by the resident queen bee. Now, the only job she can find is at the tech store filled with nerds quirky teen boys." Said duo penned the pilot and will executive produce. (Deadline.com)
RETURNED, THE (A&E; W: Carlton Cuse & Raelle Tucker; D: Keith Gordon) - Tandi Wright (Jack The Giant Slayer) is the latest to board the ensemble drama, which focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. She'll play Claire, "the estranged wife of Jack (Mark Pelligrino) and mother to Lena (Sophie Lowe)." Agnes Bruckner, India Ennenga, Jeremy Sisto, Kevin Alejandro, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Mat Vairo and Sandrine Holt also star. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - FX has passed on its Paul Giamatti-led drama pilot "Hoke" (Deadline.com); FX Networks and FX Productions have issued a joint statement in support of Tracy Morgan's upcoming FXX comedy series following "last weekend's deadly car accident, which left the comedian critically injured and claimed the life of his mentor James McNair" (TVLine.com); Samira Wiley's Poussey Washington is the latest "Orange Is the New Black" co-star to be bumped to series regular (Deadline.com); Joe Adler's Jason Wylie has likewise been tapped as a regular for season seven of "The Mentalist" (Deadline.com); and "Under the Dome" executive producer Brian K. Vaughan, who penned the pilot, has opted to exit the summer series (THR.com).
