By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

DEUCE, THE (HBO, New!) - "The Wire" and "Treme" alums David Simon and George Pelecanos are looking to re-team for a new drama at the pay channel which "will chronicle the legalization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York's Times Square from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s. Also explored: the rough-and-tumble world that existed in midtown Manhattan until the rise of HIV, the violence of the cocaine epidemic and a rejuvenated real estate market ended the bawdy turbulence." No other auspices were given. (THR.com)

RANCH, THE (Netflix, New!) - "That '70s Show" alums Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson are set to re-team for a new multi-camera comedy at the distributor, "set on a Colorado ranch, with Kutcher's character returning home after a brief semi-pro football career to run the family business with his brother, played by Masterson." Don Reo and Jim Patterson ("Two and a Half Men") are penning/executive producing the project, which is being eyed for a 20-episode order split across two releases per year. Kutcher and Masterson then will also receive producing credits. (Deadline.com)

SON OF ZAHN (FOX, New!) - Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne ("Wilfred") have scored a pilot presentation order from the network for a new comedy that mixes live action and animation, in which "upon arriving home for the first time in ten years, an animated Barbarian father finds that reconnecting with his moody, live-action teenage son, Alan, and ex-wife while suffering a mundane office job and the banality of suburban life is harder than waging actual war in his distant, animated world." Johnny Pemberton has already been cast as the aforementioned Alan with Eric Appel ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine") directing and co-executive producing. Said effort is set up at 20th Century Fox Television with Lord Miller's Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Seth Cohen ("The Last Man on Earth") also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Bill Fagerbakke will reprise his role of Michael "Dauber" Dybinski on NBC's "Coach" revival (Deadline.com); Michael Ealy has joined the cast of "Secrets & Lies" as Eric Warner, "the heir apparent to his family's private equity firm" whose wife is murdered (Deadline.com); Charles Grodin is bound for ABC's "Madoff" as Carl Shapiro, "an investor who lost millions in the scheme" (Deadline.com); Finn Wittrock is the latest guest checking into "American Horror Story: Hotel" (@MrRPMurphy); and "Cougar Town" co-creator Kevin Biegel has signed a two-year overall deal with ABC Studios where he'll serve as a consulting producer on its new comedy "The Real O'Neals" (Deadline.com).
