HBO has confirmed the September debuts dates for comedy special FERRELL TAKES THE FIELD and the new seasons of PROJECT GREENLIGHT and DOLL & EM.
FERRELL TAKES THE FIELD will debut SATURDAY, SEPT. 12 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT). Taped March 12 during baseball spring training in Arizona, the comedy special follows Will Ferrell to five different spring training ballparks, where he played every position on the field for ten different teams in the same day. From Funny Or Die in partnership with Major League Baseball, the exclusive HBO presentation is dedicated to helping the charity Cancer for College.
The new seasons of PROJECT GREENLIGHT and DOLL & EM will debut back-to-back on SUNDAY, SEPT. 13, starting at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT).
The documentary series PROJECT GREENLIGHT, chronicling the search for a first-time director and exploring the filmmaking process, launches its eight-episode season SUNDAY, SEPT. 13 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT). Spanning the entire filmmaking process, it takes a revealing, uncensored look at the challenges facing a novice director. The show begins with a digital competition, following the winner from pre-production and casting through principal photography and post-production. Executive producers of the new season include Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who were executive producers of the previous two seasons on HBO in 2001 and 2003.
The comedy series DOLL & EM returns for its six-episode second season SUNDAY, SEPT. 13 (10:30-11:00 p.m. ET/PT). Written by and starring real-life best friends Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells, this show is a bittersweet, intimate portrait of female friendship. In the new season, Doll and Em write an off-Broadway play together in an effort to do something creative on equal footing. Guest stars include Ewan McGregor, Olivia Wilde, Evan Rachel Wood and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
