CRYSTAL (ABC, New!) - Elizabeth Laime has set up a new comedy at the Alphabet about "a hustler from the wrong side of the trailer park who, fresh out of prison, lands a job in the suburbs as an in-home health aide. Despite having no education, experience or vaccinations, she is determined to succeed at her job and change her life." June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson will executive produce the half-hour, which comes from ABC Studios, with Laime serving as a supervising producer. (Deadline.com)


DEEP S.I.X. (HBO, New!) - Anthony King ("Wet Hot American Summer") has set up a potential comedy at the pay channel about "a rag-tag Homeland security team that no one believes in as they investigate paranormal threats that no one believes in." Universal Television-based Gettin' Rad Productions is behind the half-hour with the company's Adam and Naomi Scott also executive producing. (Deadline.com)


DESIGNATED SURVIVOR (FOX, New!) - Nikki Toscano ("Bates Motel") has set up a new drama at the network about "when the President, VP, and Cabinet all meet in one location for an event such as the State of the Union, one Cabinet member is conspicuously missing: the Designated Survivor. Hidden away in an undisclosed location with Presidential-level security, the Designated Survivor is ready to take the reins of the President should the unthinkable happen and the rest of the government is wiped out in an attack." Infinitum Nihil's Johnny Depp and Christi Dembrowski will also executive produce for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)


DONUTHEAD (NBC, New!) - Irene Mecchi (Brave) and Bridget Terry have sold a single-camera comedy to the Peacock "set in the world of an anxiety-ridden 11-year old boy and his single mother." Universal Television-based Gettin' Rad Productions is behind the half-hour with the company's Adam and Naomi Scott also executive producing. (Deadline.com)


EL CHIRINGUITO DE PEPE (ABC, New!) - Donald Todd ("Mind Games") is developing a domestic stake on Curro Velázquez's Spanish drama series about "a world-famous chef who comes to a small beach town to work his magic on his father's failing cantina and is surprised to find the town working its own magic on him." Said effort, which has a penalty attached, is set up at the 20th Century Fox Television-based Small Dog Picture Co. with Jason Winer and Campanario Entertainment's Sergio Aguero and Jaime Davila likewise executive producing. LEFT OF CENTER (FOX, New!) - Robert Horn has set up a music-driven, workplace comedy at the network about "a group of four backup singers who become an unconventional family, despite the fact that each of them thinks they have what it takes to be the star." The single-camera project is also executive produced by The Jackal Group's Gail Berman. No studio was mentioned. (Deadline.com)


MURDER TOWN (ABC, New!) - Jada Pinkett Smith ("Gotham") is attached to star in and executive produce a potential drama at the Alphabet about "a beautiful and complicated prosecutor who makes history as Wilmington, Delaware's, first African-American district attorney. There, she finds herself confronted by old loyalties and loves as well as a shocking revelation about her murdered husband and a polarizing, racially charged case that threatens to burn her and her city to the ground." Barry Schindel and Rob Fresco are behind the hour, which is set up at A+E Studios and has a put pilot commitment. Pinkett Smith, Schindel and Miguel Melendez then will executive produce. (THR.com)


OUT-LAW, THE (CBS, New!) - Christopher Moynihan ("Man Up!") has scored a script commitment from the Eye for a new multi-camera comedy about "a perpetually positive, Berkeley-born, liberal white-collar doctor and only child, who marries into a loud, cynical, blue-collar Long Island family." CBS Television Studios and Universal Television are behind the half-hour, which has a penalty attached. Kelly Kulchak also serves as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)


PAIR OF ACES (ABC/Universal; W: Nikki Toscano; D: TBA) - Nikki Toscano ("Bates Motel") has been tapped to take over the proposed drama, about brothers Chris and Alex Reyes, Latino golden boys who are both best friends and rivals; rising stars in Texas politics whose destiny is engineered by their manipulative mother Maria. She'll succeed Marcie Ulin and Meredith Lavender who originated the project back in September of last year. UnbeliEVAble Entertainment and Conde Nast Entertainment remain as co-producers for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)


UNTITLED TED HUMPHREY PROJECT (The CW, New!) - Ted Humphrey ("The Good Wife") has landed a new drama at the netlet "set in 1974 and centers on a young journalist who gets hired by an ambitious NY news programming chief as a publicity stunt to be one of the first female on-air sports reporters, and has to learn to navigate gender politics in front of and behind the camera at a time when women were literally not even allowed in the press box." Actress Olivia Munn also serves as an executive producer for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)


VLAD (NBC, New!) - Comedian Vladimir Caamaño has scored a put pilot commitment from the Peacock for a new multi-camera comedy "inspired by Caamaño's real-life family dynamic living with his Dominican father and older brother in the Bronx." He and Adam Sztykiel ("Undateable") will co-write the script with Doozer's Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold likewise executive producing for Warner Bros. Television. (Deadline.com)


WING PERSON (ABC, New!) - Ed Weeks and Hannah Mackay are set to team for a new comedy at the Alphabet about "the co-dependent relationship between a lesbian lothario and her cautious, straight male best friend." Anne Brogan, Val Ames, Melanie Stokes and Siobhan Bachman are executive producing for the London-based Kindle Entertainment. No studio was indicated. (Deadline.com)


AND IN OTHER NEWS... - NBC has ordered three additional episodes of "The Mysteries of Laura" bringing its season total to 16 installments (Deadline.com); E! has reportedly ordered eight episodes of "Famously Single" with Brandi Glanville, Paul DelVecchio, Josh Murray, Aubrey O'Day, Jessica White, Somaya Reece, Willis McGahee and Calum Best attached to star (THR.com); Lifetime has passed on its proposed drama pilot "The Clan of the Cave Bear" while producer Fox 21 has begun shopping the project elsewhere (Deadline.com); Tyler Ritter will guest on "NCIS" as "Abby's younger brother through adoption" (TVLine.com); and Josh Close will recur on "Person of Interest" as a yet-to-be-revealed character (TVLine.com).
