AMERICAN CRIME STORY (FX) - Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions have optioned author Jeffrey Toobin's 2000 best-seller "A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President" for a potential season of the franchise exploring the Monica Lewinsky scandal. (THR.com)
FARGO (FX) - Hamish Linklater is bound for the new season as Larue Dollars, "an IRS agent who has no tolerance for cheaters. Lacking any kind of moral scale, he believes the smallest cheater is just as bad as the master criminal." (THR.com)
LAW & ORDER: TRUE CRIME (NBC) - Production on the inaugural cycle, about the Menendez brothers, is eyed to begin this spring for a potential fall launch. (Deadline.com)
MARTHA & SNOOP'S POTLUCK DINNER PARTY (VH1) - SallyAnn Salsano has inked her seventh consecutive overall deal at Viacom. Said pact covers the output of her 495 Productions banner across sibling cable channels MTV, BET, VH1, Spike and CMT. (Deadline.com)
MR. MERCEDES (Audience) - Holland Taylor has signed onto the upcoming drama as Ida Silver, "the next-door neighbor of Det. Bill Hodges. Ida doesn't miss much and is a real piece of work: prickly, outspoken, self-serving, intimidating and vulnerable." She'll take over from Ann-Margret, who bowed out "due to an illness in her family." (THR.com)
ROSEWOOD (FOX) - Manny Montana ("Conviction") is set to recur on the current season as Marcos Villa, "brother of Detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz) who just finished his third tour in the Army. He's recently returned to Miami but we have yet to find out exactly why he's there." (Deadline.com)
STRAIN, THE (FX) - Jocelyn Hudon (Pixels) has scored an arc on the show's final season. She'll play Abby, "a young woman in a perilous circumstance, who has to use all of her skills to try and survive in an upended world." (Deadline.com)
SUPERSTORE (NBC) - Tony Plana is set to reunite with fellow "Ugly Betty" alum America Ferrera on the series where he'll once again play her father. (TVLine.com)
THIS IS US (NBC) - Katie Couric and Brian Tyree Henry will both drop by the hit drama. Couric will "make a cameo appearance as herself" while Henry will play "a friend from William's (Jermel Nakia/Ron Cephas Jones) past in the present day and in flashbacks." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED DICK WOLF PROJECT (NBC) - Dick Wolf's proposed New York crime drama set in the world of the FBI has been put on temporary hold. It's understood the planted "Law & Order: SVU" spin-off will, for now, manifest only as a new FBI character on the series this season - a love interest for Mariska Hargitay's character - who may or may not transition to the new series should it go forward. (Deadline.com)
