BIG CIGAR, THE (Apple TV+) - P.J. Byrne has been cast as Steve Blauner in the limited series. Blauner "was a partner of Schneider's (Alessandro Nivola) and Bob Rafelson in BBS Productions and was also well known as the manager of music superstar Bobby Darin." (Variety.com)
BILLIONAIRE CLASS (FOX, New!) - Eric Haywood has set up a potential drama at the network which focuses on Jo, "a brilliant but disillusioned billionaire's executive assistant who teaches Miles, a charismatic, fast-talking street hustler, how to walk, talk and act like a billionaire in order to con her employer's super-wealthy friends into using their money to help the less fortunate." Malcolm Spellman, Nichelle Tramble Spellman, Eli Dansky, Trevor Engelson, Douglas Banker and Maurice "Mo" Marable will also executive produce for The 51, Underground, Five All in the Fifth and FOX Entertainment. LIONS OF SICILY, THE (Disney+, New!) - The streamer has commissioned an eight-part Italian series which tells the story of the Florio family: "It follows brothers Paolo and Ignazio, two small spice merchants who have escaped from a Calabria stuck in the past and in search of social redemption. In Sicily they invent a future, turning a small, run-down shop into a flourish business activity that young Vincenzo, with his revolutionary ideas, will transform into an economic empire." Michele Riondino, Miriam Leone, Donatella Finocchiaro, Vinicio Marchioni, Eduardo Scarpetta, Paolo Briguglia, Ester Pantano and Adele Cammarata will star in the project, which is being produced by Francesco and Federico Scardamaglia for Compagnia Leone Cinematografica, and Raffaella Leone and Marco Belardi of Lotus Production. Ludovica Rampoldi and Stefano Sardo are the writers. (Deadline.com)
MS. PAT SHOW, THE (BET+) - The streamer has renewed the series for a third season in advance of its season two bow on August 11. Additionally, star Patricia "Ms. Pat" Williams has signed an overall deal with BET Networks. (Deadline.com)
