AVALON (ABC) - Neve Campbell is the first to be cast in the David E. Kelley's latest series as Nicole "Nic" Searcy, "the lone detective assigned to the Catalina Island substation. Somewhat inscrutable, Nic isn't easily intimidated and holds firm to her morals. Ironically, her strong moral compass is what got her banished to Catalina's biggest city, Avalon. It's a gig no career-driven L.A. cop wants, but Nic soon discovers her valuable detective skills are needed more on Avalon than she could have imagined." (Deadline.com)
BARRY (HBO) - Patrick Fischler will recur on the show's fourth season as Lon Oneil, "a man with a plan." (Deadline.com)
BIG CIGAR, THE (Apple TV+) - Olli Haaskivi is bound for the André Holland-led drama as Artie Ross, "the screenwriter behind such titles as Brubaker and Creature from the Black Lagoon, who was at one point blacklisted as the Red Scare infiltrated Hollywood." (Deadline.com)
BLACK CAKE (Hulu) - Chipo Chung and Anthony Mark Barrow have both scored roles on the Charmaine Wilkerson adaptation. Chung joins the cast as Eleanor Bennett, "who leaves behind a series of recordings after losing her battle with cancer. Her stories chronicle her journey from the Caribbean to America that shock her surviving children, and challenge everything they thought they knew about the woman who raised them. Chung will be a series regular." Barrow then will recur as Clarence "Little Man" Henry, "the head of a powerful family in Jamaica in the 1960s who is feared and respected by the Island community." BLACK MIRROR (Netflix) - Rory Culkin is the latest bound for the anthology's sixth season. No details were given about his role. (Deadline.com)
GREY'S ANATOMY (ABC) - Co-stars Chandra Wilson, James Pickens, Jr., Kevin McKidd, Kim Raver, Camilla Luddington, Caterina Scorsone, Kelly McCreary, Chris Carmack, Jake Borelli and Anthony Hill are all expected to return on a full-time basis for the show's 19th season. As previously indicated, Ellen Pompeo will be scaling back her on-screen presence, appearing in just eight episodes. Scott Speedman, coming off a one-year deal, will switch to recurring. And Richard Flood left the series last spring. (Deadline.com)
SUGAR (Apple TV+) - Amy Ryan is set to star opposite Colin Farrell and Kirby Howell-Baptiste in the upcoming drama series. No details about her role however were given. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MONSTERVERSE SERIES (Apple TV+) - Mari Yamamoto has booked a yet-to-be-revealed role on the series, which is based on Legendary's Monsterverse franchise. (Deadline.com)
VAMPIRE ACADEMY (Peacock) - Angela Wynter, Lorna Brown, Louisa Connolly-Burnham, Cornelius Macarthy, Jason Diaz, Jennifer Kirby, Joseph Ollman and Pik-Sen Lim have all booked recurring roles on the upcoming drama. No specifics about their roles however were given. (Variety.com)
