HOUSE OF THE DRAGON (HBO) - Director Miguel Sapochnik is stepping down as co-showrunner of the series after one season. He'll nonetheless remain an executive producer and has signed a first-look deal with HBO to develop new projects. Co-creator Ryan Condal will now serve as the sole showrunner while Alan Taylor has been tapped to serve as an executive producer/in-house director on season two. (THR.com)
IRONHEART (Disney+) - Regan Aliyah has boarded the six-episode series from Marvel Studios in an undisclosed role. (Deadline.com)
MORNING SHOW, THE (Apple TV+) - Tig Notaro will recur on the show's third season as Amanda Robinson, "the chief of staff to corporate titan Paul Marks (Jon Hamm)." (Deadline.com)
PHONY (Hulu, New!) - Nick Paley has scored a script-to-series commitment "with a big, high-six/low-seven-figure penalty" from the streamer for a half-hour project which "follows Sonny, a popular high school kid who wakes up after a strange car accident and discovers his mom has been replaced by an impostor." Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles and Charlie Alderman of Charlie's Production Company will also executive produce for ABC Signature. (Deadline.com)
PICTURING THE OBAMAS (Smithsonian Channel, New!) - The cable channel will debut a two-part documentary on Saturday, September 10 "about President Barack and Mrs. Michelle Obama's portraits commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery. The doc will see curators, journalists, and art critics discuss the ways that the pair's portraits disrupted traditional presidential portraiture and spurred museums to reach new audiences." Hannah Ayers, Lance Warren and Tim Evans are the executive producers for Field Studio. (Deadline.com)
ZORRO (Amazon) - Mediawan Rights has signed on to distribute the upcoming reboot series, production of which is underway with Miguel Bernardeau, Renata Notni, Dalia Xiucoatl, Emiliano Zurita and Joel Bosqued in the principal roles. (Variety.com)
