ALIEN/FARGO (FX) - FX chief John Landgraf gave updates on both projects from Noah Hawley at the TCA Winter Press Tour. "Noah is currently in production on the fifth season of Fargo but he's in active preproduction on Alien, he's written scripts," he said. "I think he's meeting with his production designer in Austin this weekend, gearing up for production this year after he completes the fifth season of Fargo." (Deadline.com)
AMERICAN CRIME/SPORTS STORY (FX) - The first "American Sports Story" limited series, based on the podcast "Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc" from the Boston Globe and Wondery, is heading toward production. "We have a fairly complete set of scripts for American Sports Story by Stu Zicherman," FX chief John Landgraf told reporters at the TCA Winter Press Tour. "We haven't dated that." As for "American Crime Story," the executive noted, "We haven't designated a subsequent successor." (Deadline.com)
BEAR, THE (FX on Hulu) - The show's sophomore run, due early this summer, has been expanded to 10 episodes. (Deadline.com)
DARK WINDS (AMC) - Nicholas Logan and Jeri Ryan are both bound for the series' second season. Logan plays Colton Wolf, "a twisted assassin with a secret that puts him on a collision course with Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon)." And Ryan portrays Rosemary Vines, "a femme fatale whose physical frailties hide her naked ambition as she plays Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), leaving a trail of bodies in her wake." (Deadline.com)
MAYANS M.C. (FX) - The "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off series will sign off after its upcoming fifth season. (Deadline.com)
OBITUARY (Hulu) - Michael Smiley has been cast in the upcoming Irish dark comedy as "lead Elvira Clancy's (Siobhán Cullen) protective and troubled father Ward Clancy." (Deadline.com)
RICK AND MORTY (Adult Swim) - Co-creator Justin Roiland has "been charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit by the Orange County District Attorney's office." "To be clear, not only is Justin innocent but we also have every expectation that this matter is on course to be dismissed once the District Attorney's office has completed its methodical review of the evidence," Roiland's attorney T. Edward Welbourn told the publication. "We look forward to clearing Justin's name and helping him move forward as swiftly as possible." (Deadline.com)
