Starz Announces Additional Casting for "Outlander: Blood of My Blood"
Brian McCardie, Jhon Lumsden, Sara Vickers and Peter Mullan join the cast of the prequel series.

STARZ ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL CASTING FOR "OUTLANDER: BLOOD OF MY BLOOD"

Brian McCardie, Jhon Lumsden, Sara Vickers and Peter Mullan Join the Cast of the Prequel Series

Santa Monica, Calif. - April 3, 2024 - - STARZ announced today additional casting for several roles in "Outlander: Blood of My Blood." Joining the cast is Brian McCardie ("Time,"Rob Roy) as the leader of Clan Grant, "Isaac Grant" ; Jhon Lumsden ("Karen Pirie," "The Famous Five") plays his son, Malcolm, and a potential suitor for Ellen MacKenzie; Sara Vickers ("Watchmen," "Endeavour") has been cast in the role of "Davina Porter," a housekeeper in the Lovat household and mother to Brian Fraser; and Peter Mullan ("Ozark," "Payback") in the role of "Red Jacob MacKenzie," Laird of Clan MacKenzie and father to Ellen, Dougal, Colum, Janet and Jocasta.

"Outlander: Blood of My Blood" will explore the lives and relationship of Jamie's parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Claire's parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine). The series will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie's parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire's parents in WWI England. Production on the 10-episode season is underway in Scotland.

"Outlander," which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this summer, will be airing the back eight episodes of its seventh season this November. Production recently began on the 10-episode eighth season, which will be the final television season of the series.

Matthew B Roberts will serve as showrunner and executive producer on both series. Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis will also executive produce. Moore and Davis developed "Outlander" for television, under their production banner Tall Ship Productions. Story Mining & Supply Company will also executive produce, and Diana Gabaldon will serve as a consulting producer. "Outlander: Blood of My Blood" is produced by Sony Pictures Television. The series will be available across all STARZ platforms in the U.S. and Canada.

The "Outlander" television series is inspired by Diana Gabaldon's international best-selling books, which have sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide, with all nine of the books gracing the New York Times best-seller list. The "Outlander" television series has become a worldwide success with audiences, spanning the genres of history, science fiction, romance and adventure in one amazing tale.

Brian McCardie

"Isaac Grant"

Bellshill born, Brian McCardie, has a wide variety of credits across film, TV and theatre. He made his feature film debut in Rob Roy, playing naive younger brother "Alisdair Roy McGregor," co-starring Liam Neeson, Jessica Lange, Tim Roth and John Hurt. This was followed by roles in The Ghost and the Darkness, Speed 2 and The Damned United, co-starring Michael Sheen, Jim Broadbent and Timothy Spall, as well as playing "Dougie Gillman" in Irvine Welsh's Filth, starring James McAvoy.

McCardie's many TV credits include "Tommy Hunter" in "Line of Duty," a co-lead role as "Joe Geddes" in the BAFTA and RTS winning "Low Winter Sun," "Dadda Moss" in "Lilies," Robert Louis Stevenson's "Kidnapped," Guy Ritchie's "Snatch" the second season of Irvine Welsh's "Crime," Jimmy McGovern's "Time" with Sean Bean and Stephen Graham and a cameo role in season one of "Outlander" playing Sir Marcus MacRannoch. He portrayed "James Connolly" in "Rebellion" after which he created and performed a one-man theatre play "Connolly,"

In theatre, he also performed in Sir Richard Eyre's "Ghosts" by Henrik Ibsen both in London and New York.

Jhon Lumsden

"Malcolm Grant"

Jhon Lumsden is a Scottish actor who trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London. He was awarded a DaDA scholarship to attend and later received the Ian Fleming Award for outstanding talent. Lumsden's theatre credits include "Les Miserables" (West End, Heathers (Theatre Royal Haymarket) and "My Cousin Rachel" (Theatre Royal Bath). His television credits include "Karen Pirie," "Blood, Sex & Royalty," and "Pancake." Lumsden's most recent work was "The Famous Five" which will air later this year.

Sara Vickers

"Davina Porter"

Sara Vickers grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland. She moved to London to train at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), graduating in 2010. A stage and screen actor best known for her role as "Joan Thursday," in the Inspector Morse prequel, "Endeavour" from 2013-2023, as well as Sunshine on Leith and "Shetland." Vickers played "Ms. Crookshanks" in the "The Watchmen" alongside Regina King and Jeremy Irons. She recently starred in "Guilt."

Peter Mullan

"Red Jacob MacKenzie"

Peter Mullan, a veteran Scottish actor and filmmaker has a huge body of work but is probably best known for his portrayal of "Joe" in the 1988 Ken Loach film My Name Is Joe. For this work he won the highly prized Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2011, the Sundance Film Festival awarded Mullan a World Dramatic Special Jury Prize for Breakout Performances for his role as "Joseph" in Paddy Considine's Tyrannosaur.

His feature film work over the last several decades stretches across every genre. This includes roles in Riff-Raff (1991), Braveheart (1995), Trainspotting (1996), Miss Julie (1999), Young Adam (2003), Children of Men (2006), The Red Riding Trilogy (2009), War Horse (2011), The Harry Potter film series (2010-11) and The Vanishing (2018). Mullan's work behind the camera as a director has also collected prestigious awards. He received a Golden Lion at 59th Venice International Film Festival for helming The Magdalene Sisters. Feature film Neds (2010) saw Mullan take the gong for Best Picture at the San Sebastian Film Festival. He also picked up Best Director and Best Writer for Neds at the Baftas in Scotland in 2011.

In television, Mullan appeared in "Ozark," "Westworld," "Cursed" and "Mum," which saw him nominated for a BAFTA. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his portrayal of "Matt Micham" in Gerard Lee's and Jane Campion's acclaimed miniseries "Top of the Lake" in 2013. Back in 2008, Mullan took the lead role in "The Fixer."

Mullan can currently be seen in "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" and recently starred in the series "The Northwater" with Colin Farrell and Jack O'Connell, as well as in Barry Jenkins' critically acclaimed "Underground Railroad."
