During the week of December 5, 2011, ABC aired 6 of the week's Top 20 TV entertainment telecasts in Adults 18-49, including the No. 1 scripted show with "Modern Family" (for its 5th straight regular first-run telecast) and the No. 1 freshman drama with "Once Upon a Time" (for the 7th time in the series' 7 telecasts to date): "Modern Family" - No. 1, "Once Upon a Time" - No. 17, while "The Middle," "Suburgatory," "Happy Endings" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" tied at No. 20.

Monday

Featuring animated holiday specials, "You Deserve It" and "Castle," ABC scored substantial year-over-year gains on Monday, building on the same night last year (12/6/11) by 1.5 million viewers (6.6 million vs. 5.1 million) and by 50% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/5 vs. 1.2/3). With a mix of repeat and original programming, ABC beat out NBC's first-run lineup ("The Sing Off Holiday Special"/"Rock Center with Brian Williams") on the evening by 69% with viewers and by 80% with young adults (3.9 million and 1.0/3).

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" (8:00-8:30 p.m.)

At 8:00 p.m., ABC's annual rebroadcast of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" earned second place in its half-hour with Total Viewers (9.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.8/8), holding strong advantages over Fox's "American Country Awards" (+28%/+56% - 7.1 million and 1.8/5) and the opening half-hour of NBC's "The Sing Off Special" (+90%/+133% - 4.8 million and 1.2/3). The animated holiday special finished as the No. 1 broadcast program in its time period with Kids 2-11 (3.9/12), pulling the Net's top number in the slot since November 2009 - since 11/30/09.

· ABC's telecast of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" increased over last year's airing by 1.0 million viewers and by 8% in Adults 18-49 (8.1 million vs. 2.6/7 on 12/7/10).

"Disney Prep & Landing 2: Naughty vs. Nice" (8:30-9:00 p.m.)

At 8:30 p.m., ABC's premiere telecast of "Disney Prep & Landing 2: Naughty vs. Nice" drew a 2.2 rating, 6 share in Adults 18-49, beating out Fox's awards show (+10% - 2.1/5) and NBC's music special (+100% - 1.1/3). "Disney Prep & Landing 2: Naughty vs. Nice" built on its lead-in with Teens 12-17 (+6%) and Kids 2-11 (+3%), standing as the night's No. 1 program on the latter measure.

· In addition, the show marked ABC's 2nd-highest Kids 2-11 rating in the half-hour in the past 2 years - since 12/7/09

· "Disney Prep & Landing 2: Naughty vs. Nice" produced huge time-period improvement for ABC, outdelivering original programming on the same night last year ("Skating with the Stars") by 79% in Total Viewers and by 175% in Adults 18-49 (3.9 million and 0.8/2).

"You Deserve It" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

During the 9 o'clock hour, ABC's "You Deserve It" boosted its time slot year over year in both Total Viewers (+9% - 3.6 million vs. 3.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (+11% - 1.0/2 vs. 0.9/2).

"Castle" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Catapulting over its lead-in at 10:00 p.m. in viewers and young adults (+123%/+100%), ABC's Castle more than doubled the numbers for NBC's original "Rock Center with Brian Williams" in Total Viewers (+138% - 8.1 million vs. 3.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (+122% - 2.0/6 vs. 0.9/2).

· Castle was up over its year-ago telecast (7.6 million and 1.9/5) with viewers (+7%) and young adults (+5%).

Tuesday

"Last Man Standing" (8:00-8:30 p.m.)

At 8:00 p.m. opposite original programming on Fox ("Glee") and NBC ("A Michael Buble Christmas"), ABC freshman "Last Man Standing" earned second place in its slot with Total Viewers (8.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.7/8), while ranking a solid No. 1 with Adults 25-54 and Men 18-49. In addition, self-starter "Last Man" continued to finish as Tuesday's most-watched comedy, attracting 1.7 million more viewers than Fox's runner-up "Glee"-assisted "New Girl" (7.1 million) at 9:00 p.m.

· "Last Man Standing" was up week to week by double digits with Adults 18-49 (+13%), Adults 18-34 (+12%), Teens 12-17 (+25%) and Kids 2-11 (+13%). In fact the show hit a 6-week high with Adults 18-34, a 5-week high with Kids 2-11 and a 4-week high with Teens 12-17 - best since 10/25/11, 11/1/11 and 11/8/11, respectively.

· On average since its premiere, "Last Man Standing" is growing the half-hour for ABC by 3.3 million viewers (11.8 million vs. 8.5 million) and by 42% in Adults 18-49 (3.4/10 vs. 2.4/7) over original series programming on the comparable nights last year.

"Body of Proof" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Leaping over its repeat "Suburgatory" lead-in at 10:00 p.m. by 3.2 million viewers (7.2 million vs. 4.0 million) and by 15% in Adults 18-49 (1.5/4 vs. 1.3/3), ABC's "Body of Proof" attracted a larger overall audience (+7% - 7.2 million vs. 6.7 million) than the final hour of the season's penultimate episode for NBC's "The Biggest Loser 12." Additionally, it was No. 1 drama in its hour among key Women (W18-49/W25-54).

· "Body of Proof" once again improved over original series programming on the same night last year (12/7/10) with viewers and young adults. In fact on average season to date, "Body of Proof" is boosting Tuesday's 10:00 p.m. hour for ABC by 2.7 million viewers (11.9 million vs. 9.2 million) and by 14% in Adults 18-49 (2.5/7 vs. 2.2/6) over the same point last season.

Wednesday

With its Wednesday schedule returning to regular originals for the first time in 3 weeks (following pre-Thanksgiving specials and then a week of repeats), ABC (3.0/8) finished in a virtual 3-way tie for No. 1 with CBS (3.1/8) and Fox (3.0/8) among Adults 18-49, as all 3 nets paced within 1-tenth of a rating point and tied in audience share.

· ABC (3.4/9) ranked No. 1 from 8:00-10:00 p.m. with its 2-hour comedy block, tying CBS and beating Fox's primetime lineup by double digits (+13% over 90-minute "The X Factor"/"I Hate My Teenage Daughter" - 3.0/8). ABC's "Modern Family" (5.1/13) stood as the definitive No. 1 TV show of the night, topping the No. 2 shows by an impressive 50% in the key young adult sales demo (CBS' "Criminal Minds" and Fox's "The X Factor" tied at a 3.4/9).

"The Middle" (8:00-8:30 p.m.)

At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "The Middle" dominated its comedy competition, beating out NBC's "Up All Night" by 3.7 million viewers (8.7 million vs. 5.0 million) and by 47% in Adults 18-49 (2.8/8 vs. 1.9/6). In addition, the ABC comedy ranked No. 2 in the half-hour among Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34, beating out CBS' "Survivor: South Pacific" by strong margins.

· For its 10th straight first-run broadcast this season, "The Middle" grew year to year with Adults 18-49 (+17%).

"Suburgatory" (8:30-9:00 p.m.)

At 8:30 p.m., ABC's "Suburgatory" held 100% of its Adult 18-49 (2.8/8) lead-in and built by double digits with Adults 18-34 (+19% - 2.5/8 vs. 2.1/7) and Women 18-34 (+21% - 2.9/8 vs. 2.4/8). Finishing a strong No. 2 in its slot to the second half-hour of "The X Factor," ABC's "Suburgatory" defeated CBS' "Survivor" by a resounding 67% in Adults 18-34 and by 61% in Women 18-34.

· "Suburgatory" scored its best numbers since the beginning of November with Adults 18-34 and key Women (W18-34/W18-49) - since 11/2/11.

· For the new ABC comedy's 9th time in as many original airings, "Suburgatory" significantly improved its half-hour over the year-ago comedy ("Better with You") with viewers (+13%) and young adults (+27%).

"Modern Family" (9:00-9:31 p.m.)

Gaining on its lead-in at 9:00 p.m. to win its time slot by huge margins over "The X Factor" (+46% - 3.5/9) and "Criminal Minds" (+55% - 3.3/8), ABC's "Modern Family" (5.1/13) registered as Wednesday's No. 1 TV program in Adults 18-49 for its 9th straight first-run telecast this season.

· Bettering its year-ago performance on each first-run airing this season, "Modern Family" surged year to year by 1.1 million viewers and by 21% in Adults 18-49.

"Happy Endings" (9:31-10:00 p.m.)

During the 9:30 p.m. half-hour, ABC's "Happy Endings" toppled its "X Factor"-fueled comedy competition, overshadowing Fox's "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" by 1.0 million viewers (6.4 million vs. 5.4 million) and by 33% in Adults 18-49 (2.8/7 vs. 2.1/5). Winning its time period with Adults 18-34 (tie) and Women 18-34, the ABC sophomore comedy qualified as the No. 1 scripted series in its slot for its 9th consecutive original broadcast on both measures.

· ABC's "Happy Endings" improved its slot over the year-ago night by 8% in Adults 18-49.

"Revenge" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

From 10:00-11:00 p.m., ABC freshman drama "Revenge" ran in a near-tie for first place in its hour among Adults 18-49 with CBS' veteran "CSI" (2.4/6 vs. 2.5/7 - pacing within 1-tenth of a rating point), while ranking No. 1 in the hour with Adults 18-34 and across all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).

· ABC's "Revenge" marked a 5-week high with Women 18-34 (tie) - since 11/2/11.

· On average this season, "Revenge" is delivering huge year-over-year improvement for ABC during Wednesday's 10 o'clock hour, boosting the time slot by 91% in Total Viewers (10.1 million vs. 5.3 million) and by 143% in Adults 18-49 (3.4/9 vs. 1.4/4) over original drama series programming during the same weeks last year. In fact, "Revenge" is ABC's top series in the hour in over 4 years with viewers and young adults - since "Lost" during the 2006-07 TV Season.

Thursday

"Wipeout SP-12/8" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

From 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC's holiday special "Winter Wipeout: Deck the Balls" beat out NBC's original comedies ("Community"/"Parks and Recreation") by 3.1 million viewers (6.7 million vs. 3.6 million) and by 19% in Adults 18-49 (1.9/5 vs. 1.6/5). The special ranked No. 1 in the hour with Kids 2-11, finishing as the highest-rated broadcast show of the evening. In fact, it was the top-rated "Wipeout" telecast on any night with Kids 2-11 since June - since 6/23/11.

· Opposite stiff original competition in the hour from CBS' comedies ("The Big Bang Theory"/"Rules of Engagement") and Fox's "The X Factor Results Show," "Wipeout" surged by double digits from its first half-hour to its second half-hour with viewers (+15%) and young adults (+31%).

· The "Winter Wipeout" special tallied ABC's 2nd-highest Adult 18-34 number in the time period this season and hit a season high with Teens 12-17.

"AFHV Christmas Spectacular" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

During the 9 o'clock hour, ABC's special "America's Funniest Home Videos Christmas Spectacular" outdrew NBC's original comedies ("The Office"/"Whitney") by 1.5 million viewers (6.5 million vs. 5.0 million). In addition, the ABC video-clip show ranked No. 2 against its broadcast competitors with Teens 12-17, and No. 1 with Kids 2-11 (tie).

· "America's Funniest Home Videos" marked season highs with Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11. In fact, the series equaled its top Teen 12-17 number in close to 3 years -1/25/09.

"The Great Big American Auction" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

From 10:00-11:00 p.m., ABC's special "The Great Big American Auction" attracted 17% more viewers than NBC's original "Grimm" (4.8 million vs. 4.1 million).

· Despite airing during the final hour of the evening, the ABC special gained viewers (+4%) and young adults (+7%) from its first half-hour to its second half-hour.

Friday

ABC ranked No. 1 against its network rivals with Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34, hitting 7-week highs on the evening on both Nielsen measures - best since 10/21/11. In addition, ABC built its numbers for the 2nd straight week in Total Viewers (4.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.3/4), growing over the prior week by 4% in viewers and by 8% in young adults. The Net equaled its 2nd-best Adult 18-49 rating on the night this season.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

At 8 o'clock, ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" qualified as the 2nd-most-watched program, outdrawing NBC's first-run "Chuck" by 22% in viewers (4.5 million vs. 3.7 million).

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition-9P" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Building sharply on its lead-in at 9:00 p.m., a second installment of "Home Edition" ran neck-and-neck with NBC's original "Grimm" among viewers and young adults (AD18-34/AD18-49), while beating the high-profile NBC drama and winning the hour across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).

· "Home Edition" was up week to week in Total Viewers (+8% - 5.2 million vs. 4.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (+8% - 1.4/4 vs. 1.3/4), and tied a best-since-premiere rating on the night with Adults 18-34.

"20/20" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's "20/20" earned second place among Adults 25-54 (1.7/5) and Adults 18-49 (1.3/4) and delivered the No. 1 position on the major nets with Women 18-34. ABC's "20/20" featured an exclusive interview with country star Mindy McCready, Elizabeth Vargas' report about "missing" women in India, a preview of "Barbara Walters Presents the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011" and Kristen Wiig and Chelsea Handler speaking with Katie Couric about the 2011 year in film.

· "20/20" grew its overall audience week to week (+4% - 4.7 million vs. 4.5 million) and matched its best Women 18-34 rating since mid-October - since 10/21/11.

Saturday

With "Primetime Nightline" and ABC News' Republican presidential candidate debate in Iowa, ABC stood as the dominant most-watched TV network on Saturday, outdrawing its nearest competition by 22% (6.1 million vs. 5.0 million - CBS).

"ABC News Your Voice, Your Vote - Republican Presidential Debate in Iowa" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

The ABC News "Your Voice, Your Vote - Republican Presidential Debate in Iowa" drew 7.6 million Total Viewers and a 1.7 rating, 5 share in Adults 25-54. Moderated by Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulos, the "Your Voice, Your Vote" special ranked as Saturday's No. 1 TV program among Total Viewers.

· The ABC News debate stands as the most-watched debate of the 2012 campaign season. Held at a pivotal moment in the campaign -- just 24 days before the first voters make their voices heard at the Iowa caucuses -- the ABC debate outperformed the next most viewed GOP debates by 25% in Total Viewers (6.1 million - Fox News on 9/22/11) and by 21% in Adults 25-54 (1.4/4 - MSNBC on 9/7/11).

· The ABC debate led the most-recent Republican debate on CBS News (11/12/11) by 36% in Total Viewers (7.6 million vs. 5.5 million) and by 31% in Adults 25-54 (1.7/5 vs. 1.3/4).

· The ABC News debate delivered the network's best performance in time slot with non-sports programming in more than 7 months in Total Viewers and more than 6 months among Adults 25-54 - since 4/23/11 and 5/14/11, respectively.

Sunday

"Once Upon a Time" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Building sharply on its repeat lead-in ("America's Funniest Home Videos") opposite fierce sports-driven competition during the 8:00 p.m. hour from one of NBC's biggest-ever "Sunday Night Football" games (NY Giants-Dallas Cowboys) and CBS' NFL overrun-boosted programming, ABC freshman drama "Once Upon a Time" finished as the No. 2 entertainment program in its slot to the season finale of CBS' "Amazing Race XIX" (8:42-9:42 p.m.) in viewers (8.9 million) and young adults (2.9/7), while beating out the "Amazing Race" closer with Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34.

· "Once Upon a Time" continued to generate strong year-over-year gains for ABC, growing over original programming on the same night last year by 21% in Adults 18-49 (2.4/6 on 12/12/10).
