Monday's Broadcast Ratings: "MasterChef," "American Ninja Warrior" Top Demos

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/1/14):

NBC (5.138 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) and FOX (4.667 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) shared the demo crown on Labor Day as the latter served up new episodes of "MasterChef" (5.443 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T1) and "Hotel Hell" (3.891 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3).

The Peacock then offered up originals from "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (3.894 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #7) and "American Ninja Warrior" (5.760 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T1).

Next up was ABC (4.284 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with a new "Bachelor in Paradise" (4.655 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4) and the season finale of "Mistresses" (3.541 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).

Meanwhile, CBS (5.369 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) went with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (5.973 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4), "CBS Fall Preview" (4.688 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "Mike & Molly" (4.693 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "Two and a Half Men" (4.287 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #11) and "Under the Dome" (6.286 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4).

And finally, repeats of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.429 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T12), another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.464 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T12) and a new "America's Next Top Model" (1.275 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T12) on The CW (1.361 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted 0.3, 0.3 and 0.5 rating, respectively.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.0/5 with an encore telecast; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.6/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.3/1 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 0.9/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore) tied CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (0.8/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.5/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (9/2/13):

CBS (6.824 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the top draw on Labor Day with its mix of "How I Met Your Mother" (4.314 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6), "Mike & Molly" (4.162 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #8), "2 Broke Girls" (5.169 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #5), another "Mike & Molly" (5.879 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) and "Under the Dome" (10.710 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1).

NBC (4.302 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then snagged the silver with a special two-hour "American Ninja Warrior" (5.507 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) and a new "Siberia" (1.894 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9).

Next up was ABC (4.167 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with its combination of "Shark Tank" (4.579 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6), "Mistresses" (4.106 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) and "Castle" (3.817 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.762 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up its repeat lineup of "Raising Hope" (1.950 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9), another "Raising Hope" (1.882 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9), "New Girl" (1.693 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9) and "The Mindy Project" (1.523 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.6, #14).

And finally, a repeat "Hart of Dixie" (0.624 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T15) and a new "Breaking Pointe" (0.488 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T15) finished out the night on The CW (0.556 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Dixie" delivered a 0.2 rating while "Pointe" posted a 0.2 rating.
