Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Wins Tight Demo Race

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/12/17):

CBS (6.848 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday with a repeat "The Big Bang Theory" (10.190 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) followed by new episodes of "The Great Indoors" (7.246 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2), "Mom" (7.334 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3), "Life in Pieces" (5.926 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4) and "Pure Genius" (5.196 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11).

NBC (5.335 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) then was a close second with its mix of "Superstore" (4.311 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4), "The Good Place" (3.629 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8), "Chicago Med" (6.752 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4) and "The Blacklist" (5.283 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

Sharing the silver was FOX (3.237 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) with a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.902 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T4) and the premiere of "My Kitchen Rules" (2.572 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11).

Next up was ABC (5.256 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) with the season finale of "The Great Holiday Baking Show" (5.138 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) plus the special "Taking the Stage: Changing America" (5.315 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11).

And finally, repeats of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (1.115 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) and "Supernatural" (0.809 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) closed out the night for The CW (0.962 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/14/16):

FOX (8.650 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) was demo champ once again on Thursday with a new "American Idol" (8.420 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T3) and a second "American Idol" (8.880 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2).

CBS (8.660 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then took home the silver with originals from "The Big Bang Theory" (15.489 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.7, #1), "Life in Pieces" (9.302 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T3), "Mom" (8.351 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #5), "Angel from Hell" (6.947 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T7) and "Elementary" (5.937 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #9).

Next up was NBC (5.943 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) with the penultimate "Heroes Reborn" (3.821 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10) alongside a new "The Blacklist" (7.366 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #6) and week two of "Shades of Blue" (6.643 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T7).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.777 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up new episodes of "Beyond the Tank" (4.113 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10), "My Diet Is Better Than Yours" (2.198 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12) and another "My Diet Is Better Than Yours" (2.021 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12).
