Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Dramas Open Season on Top

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/29/17):

CBS (8.320 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) opened the Friday season on top with the season premieres of "MacGyver" (6.637 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.485 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) and "Blue Bloods" (9.840 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1).

ABC (3.504 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then claimed the silver with the debut of "Marvel's Inhumans" (3.942 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3), a second "Marvel's Inhumans" (3.628 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5) and "20/20" (2.944 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #8).

Next up was NBC (4.367 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) with an encore of "Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders" (2.966 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9) alongside a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.068 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.337 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) served up the season openers to "Hell's Kitchen" (2.982 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5) and "The Exorcist" (1.691 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9).

And finally, The CW (0.958 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) opted for a repeat marathon of "Masters of Illusion" (0.977 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11), another "Masters of Illusion" (1.001 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11), yet another "Masters of Illusion" (0.912 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) and even more "Masters of Illusion" (0.943 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.6/3; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

CBS (9.698 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) was the top draw on Friday thanks to week two of "MacGyver" (9.088 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.620 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T2) and "Blue Bloods" (10.389 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T2).

ABC (4.592 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then was the silver draw with its mix of "Last Man Standing" (5.795 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5), "Dr. Ken" (3.915 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #9), "Shark Tank" (4.986 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) and "20/20" (3.934 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #8).

Next up was NBC (4.005 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) with an encore of "This Is Us" (2.650 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #11) and a new two-hour "Dateline NBC" (4.683 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.637 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) offered up originals from "Hell's Kitchen" (3.193 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) and "The Exorcist" (2.082 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #10).
