Top 10 Week of June 12: Chris Hemsworth's 'Extraction 2' Tops All Views

NETFLIX TOP 10 UPDATE:

We heard feedback that only providing hours viewed on our Top 10 lists was hard to contextualize, so over the last few months we started to share the views for a good number of our titles (i.e. the number of hours viewed divided by the total run time).

This proved to be a more relatable metric for many people, so starting today, while we will continue to show hours viewed per title, our Top10 lists will now be ranked by views. We will also extend the qualifying time for our most popular lists from around one month (28 days) to three months (91 days) given that many of our shows and films grow significantly over time.

As we have always said there is no one perfect streaming metric. But we believe that views combined with total hours viewed is a good evolution because it's:

Anchored in engagement - our best measure of member satisfaction and a key driver of retention (which in turn drives our business);

Ensures longer titles don't get an advantage; and

Enables third parties to compare the relative impact of movies and series - despite their different run times.

Our hope is that by being consistent and transparent about what people are watching, Netflix can give everyone - consumers, creators, analysts and press - better insights into what success in streaming looks like more generally. We will continue to share more granular, title-specific data with creators, and as always, we'll continue to listen to feedback.

TOP 10 LISTS: June 12 - June 18

Fans enjoyed a double dose of Chris Hemsworth as the Extraction franchise took the top two spots on the English Films List. Debuting this week with nearly 43M views (88.38M hours viewed divided by 2.07 runtime hours), Extraction 2 kept viewers on the edge of their seats with a 21-minute action oner, making the hard-hitting sequel the most viewed title this week. Based on the graphic novel Ciudad, the first installment of Extraction re-entered the Top 10 list with over 9M views this week. Hemsworth announced this weekend at Tudum: A Global Fan Event that a third film is in the works. And six weeks after its premiere, action-thriller The Mother continued to show staying power with over 123M total views.

Season 4 of Never Have I Ever starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (who was also one of our Tudum emcees) jumped into the #1 spot on the English TV List with 11.5M views. Seasons 1 (2.6M views) and 3 (2.3M views), also made appearances on the list. From creator Charlie Brooker, the long-awaited Black Mirror Season 6 debuted at #2 with 11.3M views with new tales of dystopia that span eras - and terrors. Other new series on the list included Our Planet II (3.5M views), Tex Mex Motors (2.8M views), and Amy Schumer: Emergency Contact (2.4M views). Arnold Schwarzenegger continued to hold two spots on the list with docuseries Arnold (5.2M views) and action-comedy FUBAR (3.4M views). Arnold also surprised the crowd in Brazil by announcing FUBAR's Season 2 renewal. Landing in the seventh spot was Season 4 of Manifest (2.8M views), and Shondaland's Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story closed out the list.

In its second week, Korean drama Bloodhounds jumped to the #1 spot on the Non-English TV List with 8.1M views. Other Korean dramas on the list included The Good Bad Mother and King of the Land. New to the list was Mexican drama The Surrogacy (3.8M views), Season 3 of reality dating competition series Love is Blind: Brazil (1.6M views), Spanish documentary The Playing Card (1.3M views) and our latest sports docuseries Tour de France: Unchained (1.5M views), which takes a look inside one of the world's most grueling bike races. Colombia's Fake Profile, Japan's The Days and Season 3 of Spanish drama Valeria all returned to the list.

On the Non-English Films side, Turkish drama You Do You moved into the # 1 spot with 8.6M views. Danish drama A Beautiful Life, Spanish horror Tin & Tina, German drama Blood & Gold and Dutch psychological thriller Faithfully Yours all made return appearances. New entrants on the list included Japanese anime Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, Dutch comedy The Wonder Weeks and Japanese drama The Village.
