It's Finally Here: FOX Sets 'Tru Calling' Premiere
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- One of our most frequently asked questions got answered today as FOX has finally scheduled the second season premiere of "Tru Calling."

The sophomore drama, which FOX confirmed in January won't be picked up for a third season (read the story), will debut with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, March 31 beginning at 8:00/7:00c. Said broadcast will replace the previously announced repeats of "The O.C." on the night ("The Family Ties" and "The Power of Love").

The following week, "Tru" will take over the Thursday, 9:00/8:00c slot currently occupied by "Point Pleasant." That series will head to hiatus while "The O.C." will remain at 8:00/7:00c.

Here's how FOX describes "Tru's" two-hour season premiere:

TRU CALLING RETURNS WITH TWO-HOUR SEASON PREMIERE THURSDAY, MARCH 31, ON FOX

Eliza Dushku and Jason Priestley Star

What would you do if you could relive a day? If you're Tru Davies (Eliza Dushku), you'd save lives. In the season one finale, Tru and Jack (Jason Priestley) found themselves on a collision course with the stakes as high as they could be after the body of Tru's brother, Harrison, asked for help. As Tru and Jack began an epic battle for life and death, Tru's attempts to save Harrison led to the shocking death of her own on-again, off-again boyfriend. The battle rages on in the special two-hour premiere of season two. Tru's father moves to the city so that he and Jack can maintain their alliance without Tru's knowledge. Meanwhile, Davis, the quirky morgue staffer for whom Tru works, continues to support Tru on her missions to save lives in the Perfect Storm/Grace episode of TRU CALLING Thursday, March 31 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (TRU-201/202) (TV-PG/TV-PG V)

Cast: Eliza Dushku as Tru Davies, Jason Priestley as Jack Harper, Shawn Reaves as Harrison Davies, Zach Galifianakis as Davis, Liz Vassey as Dr. Carrie Allen, Lizzy Caplan as Avery, Eric Christian Olsen as Jensen, Parry Shen as Tyler.

Guest Cast: Cotter Smith as Richard, Carly Pope as Kate, Ty Olsson as Matt, Greg Anderson as Medical School Professor, Erick Avari as Dr. Burrell, Jana Mitsoula as Det. Gomez.

And here's how the network details "Tru's" April 7 episode:

A WOMAN IS KILLED DURING A SURPRISE PARTY FOR TRU ON TRU CALLING THURSDAY, APRIL 7, ON FOX

Harrison and Davis throw a surprise birthday party for Tru at the morgue. With the party in full swing, the lights suddenly go out and a woman is killed. Tru's day rewinds without her knowing who the real victim was in the TRU CALLING episode In the Dark Thursday, April 7 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (TRU-203) (TV-PG V)

Cast: Eliza Dushku as Tru Davies, Jason Priestley as Jack Harper, Shawn Reaves as Harrison Davies, Zach Galifianakis as Davis, Liz Vassey as Dr. Carrie Allen, Lizzy Caplan as Avery, Eric Christian Olsen as Jensen, Parry Shen as Tyler.

Guest Cast: Marnie Alton as Lexi, Georgia Craig as Vivian, Bro Gilbert as maintenance guy, Michael Roberds as witness/cab driver, Mylene Dinh-Robic as roommate, Janet Pinnick as clinic mom.

An official press release about all of this news is expected shortly.
