LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD (NBC, New!) - The Peacock is developing a primetime celebrity edition of the classic game show. FremantleMedia North America is behind the project, which has never aired as a regular primetime network show. Casting is underway on the potential project, which could roll out as early as this summer. The news comes on the heels of the latest primetime success of CBS's "The Price Is Right." It's not clear if syndicated host John O'Hurley will assume said duties for the primetime edition.
FIVE YEAR PLAN (ABC, New!) - Joe Port and Joe Wiseman ("The IT Crowd") have landed a pilot order from the Alphabet for a new comedy about two brothers and their friends, all of whom are living according to their five-year plans. The multi-camera half-hour is set up at Universal Media Studios where the pair have an overall deal. They'll write and executive produce.
GREY'S ANATOMY (ABC) - Amy Madigan ("Carnivale") is set to appear in all five post-strike episodes of the medical drama. She'll play a psychiatrist at the show's Seattle Grace Hospital. No other details however were given. "Grey's" returns with the first of said installments on April 24.
LADY OR A TRAMP (MTV) - The cable channel has ordered eight episodes of the Donald Trump-produced series, a domestic take on the U.K. format "Ladette to Lady." FOX originally took a stab at developing the project last year. The series, which is now untitled, will send 15 contemporary young women to a boarding school environment where they'll be coached in self-improvement and female empowerment techniques and then presented with a series of challenges, the winner of which receives an unspecified prize. Trump and Andy Litinsky then will executive produce via their Trump Productions banner alongside Liz Bronstein ("Project Greenlight") and RDF USA's Chris Coelen and Greg Goldman. The latter company's Mike Duffy will also serve as a co-executive producer. Casting is currently underway.
OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE (ABC) - Rob Thomas has landed his third pilot commitment this season, this time for a domestic take on the New Zealand drama. The project, which is set up at ABC Studios, revolves around a family of criminals and the mother who decides to go straight when her husband winds up in jail. Thomas wrote the pilot script and will executive produce alongside South Pacific Pictures's John Barnett. Michael Larkin, Michael Goldstein, Bruce Cervi and John Lansing also serve as co-executive producers with Danielle Stokdyk and Jennifer Gwartz producing. "Fortune" joins Thomas's other pickups, "Cupid" (also for ABC) and the CW's "Beverly Hills, 90210" spin-off.
