SHAKEDOWN (FX, New!) - "L.A. Confidential" author James Ellroy has sold a potential drama to the cable channel "set in the tabloid world and underbelly of Los Angeles circa the late 1950s and centers on the city's top informant/operator/wire tapper/fixer, Fred Otash, who lives and works where the glamour and the grime intersect." Said hour is based on Ellroy's 2012 novella of the same name, which he'll executive produce alongside Joe Roth, Clark Peterson, Steven Hoban and Palak Patel for FX Productions. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - USA has commissioned five more scripts of "Psych" with an eye towards expanding its eighth season to 13 episodes (Deadline.com); "Revenge" creator Mike Kelley will step down from the show's day-to-day responsibilities should it return for a third season (Deadline.com); Chris Morgan, co-creator of ABC's "Big Thunder" and FOX's "Gang Related" pilots, has inked a two-year overall deal with producer 20th Century Fox Television (Deadline.com); Jessica Tuck and Robin Givens are both bound for ABC's newcomer "Twisted" (THR.com); and Brad Paisley will guest star as himself on the season finale of "Nashville" (ExtraTV.com).

NBC Will Now Offer a Special Premiere of "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins" on Sunday, Jan. 18 Immediately Following Coverage of the NFL Playoff Game
