E! PRESENTS "NICK CANNON'S BIG SURPRISE" ON THURSDAY, MAY 9 AT 10 PM ET/PT

Los Angeles - April 29, 2013 - Actor, comedian and multi-faceted entertainer Nick Cannon has a big surprise for his family, and he is sharing it with the world! Grateful to his grandparents who helped raise him, Nick shows his appreciation with a surprise home makeover and takes E! along for the journey. In this one-hour special, the star will share childhood memories, photos and videos as he gives viewers an intimate look back at his early years and family life to explain why he is so indebted to his grandparents. He travels to Temecula, CA to completely renovate the home that he previously had bought for them, enlisting the help of family members, including one very opinionated Aunt Phyllis as his sidekick, to complete the process. Decorators Ron Woodson & Jaime Rummerfield are brought on board to work with Nick on creating an environment that is new and beautiful, but manage to keep those homey touches that are so important to Nick's grandparents. Nick is looking to achieve the almost impossible - a full home make-over in a very brief period of time! He takes his grandparents to his own house for a few days under the guise that they are shooting an E! "True Hollywood Story" about him. With those two distracted, Nick meets with decorators Ron and Jaime to talk through his design concepts. Nick hired them to ensure the job is done efficiently and perfectly under an extremely tight deadline. Although they bring some creative ideas to the renovation plans and attempt to collaborate with Nick on his vision, tensions arise when their plans don't coincide.

Throughout the process, Nick shares an intimate look back at his life. He reminisces over childhood photos and videos. He talks about holidays with his family, the role of faith in his life, and the importance of instilling values into his own children. He addresses his somewhat recent health scare and the impact it had on his relationship with faith and family. He recalls the first time his family met now-wife Mariah Carey, including the warning his grandfather gave him about keeping Mariah around.

When he's not telling childhood stories, Nick is completely hands on with the renovation of his grandparent's home. Between knocking down walls and debating major design decisions with Aunt Phyllis, Nick and his team struggle to get the job under the time constraint. Is the renovation be completed before Nick's grandparent's return? Will his grandmother actually like what he does with her home? There's only one way to find out.
