2014 STREET LEAGUE SKATEBOARDING NIKE SB WORLD TOUR ANNOUNCES NEW STOPS, FOX SPORTS 1 TELEVISION SCHEDULE AND FIRST-EVER SLS PRO OPEN KICK-OFF EVENT

· New arena stops introduced in Chicago and Los Angeles.

· Newly created Pro Open event kicks off the 2014 season by pitting veteran Street League pros against fresh talent.

· Pro Open format qualifies the top three new pros to the tour.

LOS ANGELES - Today, Street League Skateboarding (SLS) announces the dates and locations of the 2014 SLS Nike SB World Tour-featuring new stops in Chicago and Los Angeles-as well as the first-ever SLS Pro Open season kick-off event. Following its inaugural season with presenting partner Nike SB, SLS is exposing competition skateboarding to greater audiences by televising the events live on FOX Sports 1.

"We're thrilled to open up the SLS Nike SB World Tour to the broader community of pros looking to qualify into SLS with the Pro Open event," says SLS President Brian Atlas. "The next generation of elite SLS pros will emerge through this contest and qualify for the tour, and possibly qualify to compete against the top SLS pros for the overall SLS Super Crown World Championship title."

"The addition of the Pro Open as the first-ever true qualifier into SLS kicks starts the tour with instant drama and high stakes," says Michael Bloom, FOX Sports SVP, Original Programming. "It's a great way to launch the SLS Nike SB World Tour on FOX Sports 1. A new era in professional skateboarding competition is beginning."

As skateboarding's most prestigious professional competitive series, the 2014 SLS Nike SB World Tour brings the sport's best street skateboarding to a worldwide fan base. SLS Super Crown Champions Sean Malto, Nyjah Huston and reigning champion Chris Cole again take on past event winners such as Paul Rodriguez and Shane O'Neill-each seeking to win the Super Crown Championship and further cement their spot in skateboarding history.

Entirely new for 2014 is the SLS Monster Energy Pro Open, which kicks off the season on the weekend of May 17-18 as a privately held event at the Nike SB's state-of-the-art Sixth and Mill Skatepark in Downtown Los Angeles, the contest airs as a one-hour SLS Kick-Off Special on FOX Sports 1 Thursday, May 29 (8:00 PM ET). In the past, SLS events were exclusive to the top 20 SLS pros and select wildcards. The Pro Open offers an additional 20 elite skateboarders the chance to earn their way onto the SLS Nike SB World Tour-and take home more than $75,000 in prize money along the way. Day one will whittle the field to eight skateboarders; on day two, those eight will challenge the world's best competitive street skaters: the SLS pros. SLS vets and new faces alike will be putting it all on the line, and not just for the $75,000 in prize money: the winner of the Pro Open will earn a coveted "golden ticket" to compete for the $200,000 first place check at the Super Crown World Championship. The two-day Pro Open is webcast on www.streetleague.com and on www.foxsports.com.

This year the SLS Nike SB World Tour adds two new arena stops. On Sunday, June 29, the tour heads to the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, bringing the show to the most-requested city in online fan voting. The addition of Chicago to SLS this season brings the premier skateboarding contest series to the heartland and bridges the East and West Coast skate scenes. The 90-minute finals run on FOX Sports 1, live at 7:00 PM ET.

The SLS Nike SB World Tour next heads to the skate mecca of Los Angeles on Sunday, July 27, where the 25 pros compete at the Galen Center for the first time. FOX Sports 1 telecasts the finals live at 8:00 PM ET in a 90-minute show.

After completion of the first two stops, the field narrows to the top eight finalists for the season finale: the Super Crown World Championship, which returns to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday, August 24 live on FOX Sports 1 (9:00 PM ET) in a 90-minute show.
